Hunter’s Moon Trailer Reveals Atmospheric New Witch-Hunt Horror Game
Twin Swans Studio has revealed Hunter's Moon, an atmospheric 17th-century historical folk horror game played from a first-person perspective. The game is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 26, 2026—fittingly falling on the night of the full Hunter's Moon.
Players step into the shoes of Lilith Thorne, a woman accused of witchcraft. To stay alive, Lilith must flee across rural villages, dense forests, and desolate boglands while evading her pursuers.
Relentlessly hunting her down are the Witchfinder General, a local magistrate, and a seasoned gamekeeper. Survival hinges on stealth, cunning, and paying close attention to the environment.
One of Hunter's Moon's standout mechanics is eavesdropping. Players can listen in on conversations through windows to gather crucial intel that could mean the difference between life and death—ranging from warnings and advice to sacred artifacts and traditional folk songs.
The developers are aiming for a world grounded in historical realism, paired with a distinct, stylized visual design. The game boasts over 100 fully voiced characters, each with their own unique story and role in the narrative.
Hunter's Moon takes inspiration from real-life events surrounding the English witch trials—specifically drawing from the historical account of Matthew Hopkins, the self-proclaimed "Witchfinder General" who led notorious persecutions in 17th-century England.
The team offers a fresh spin on the horror genre: the true terror isn't supernatural creatures, but rather human fear, superstition, and cruelty.
