The developers of Neighbors: Suburban Warfare have announced that the game is going free-to-play. The 4v4 team-based game, which is currently in Early Access, was previously available on Steam for $9.99, but now anyone can jump into the neighborhood brawl without buying the game.

The switch to Free-to-Play will coincide with the full 1.0 release. Studio Invisible Walls announced plans for the launch about a month ago. The update will introduce a new neighbor, a new house, and a range of other improvements. According to the developers, these changes will help Neighbors: Suburban Warfare become the chaotic brawler they originally envisioned. Alongside the Steam version, the game will also launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Players who purchased Neighbors: Suburban Warfare in Early Access will receive several bonuses as a thank-you for supporting the project. Once version 1.0 launches, they will automatically unlock all neighbors, including the newest character, Gwen, as well as two P.A. skins: P.A Flames and Cannon Flaming. They will also receive the premium version of the Neighborhood Pass, which includes additional skins and supplies of the in-game currencies Pocket Pennies and Harmonies. The value of the pass will match the amount players paid for Early Access.

The developers have not yet revealed the exact release date for version 1.0. It will be announced during the Coffee Stain Big Break Showcase, which takes place today, September 29.

Neighbors: Suburban Warfare features 4v4 team battles where players must build up their own homes while tearing apart those of their opponents. The roster includes all sorts of neighborhood residents, from boxer grandma Doreen to troublemaker Kevin with his slingshot. Everyday household items can be used as weapons, while traps and defensive upgrades can be set up to protect your home. Players can also customize both their characters and houses, with options ranging from a modest log cabin to a luxurious mansion.
