A new free giveaway has kicked off on the Epic Games Store. Until October 8, users can claim System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster and Buried Stars. Both games will remain in your library forever.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is an updated version of the cult classic horror shooter with RPG elements, originally released in 1999 by Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios. The remaster was developed by Nightdive Studios, known for bringing classic games back to life. Players once again have to explore an infested space station, level up their character, and survive while dealing with limited resources.

The updated version features various technical improvements, more streamlined controls, and a better inventory system. It also adds mod support and four-player co-op with cross-play.

Buried Stars is a detective visual novel developed by Studio LARGO and LINE Games. The story takes place during the finale of a survival talent show: a stage collapses during a live broadcast, trapping the contestants inside. Their only connection to the outside world is through social media, while an anonymous user warns of an upcoming murder. Players must uncover who is behind everything by analyzing messages, social media feeds, and the characters' statements.

The game was released on consoles in 2020 and arrived on PC in November 2021. On Steam, it has a "Very Positive" rating (82% of more than 2,000 reviews). Critics compared the visual novel to Danganronpa, while noting its more grounded tone and social themes, including exploitation in the idol industry.
