During the playthrough, you might occasionally see stray animals in Night City, including cats. One of them can be petted in the alley where Misty's and Vik the Ripperdoc's shops are located. Another cat can be seen during a conversation with an NPC, who notes that it might be a bakeneko. This word means a shape-shifting cat or demon in Japanese mythology.
You can also find a pet that will live with V. To do this, exit the hero's apartment and turn left. There will be a trash bin and a sign offering to buy food for stray cats.
You can find the food in the Rancho Coronado area in Santo Domingo. You need the Arasaka corporation plant. By the way, you can teleport there if it is already unlocked.
This place is well-guarded, so you need to head to the western wall and climb up, avoiding patrols. Then you need to descend—the location is marked with an arrow in the screenshot below. There you can find the cat food.
Take it and return home. Then go back to the trash bin and put the food in the bowl. After that, you can go home and sleep.
After waking up, go to the trash bin again, where you will see a cat named Nibbles eating the food. Now you can take the furry stray home, and it will live with you.
Even the cynical Johnny Silverhand will appreciate this gesture.
It's important to note that the cat model glitches, so in some situations, it seems like the pet has no eyes. The design indicates that it is a Sphynx. It's interesting how such a purely domestic cat survived on the streets of Night City.
