Shift Change: Stalker 2 Quest Walkthrough
One of the next missions after talking to the Wanderer in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the journey to the waste processing station. We will share many useful tips and recommendations for completing this quest.
Shift Change
In the process of completing the main task Hot on the Trail, you will need to find two wounded stalkers by reaching the station. The path to the point indicated in the image below will not be without obstacles — several bandits surrounding the station will try to stop you. However, they are not well-equipped, so even a beginner can handle them with ease.
After reaching the wounded stalkers, talk to them to receive the task. An interesting point is that this quest directly intersects with the storyline, as the tasks in both quests coincide — you will need to take the key from Sever, who is on the roof of the WPS. This intersection will allow you to progress through both lines of quests simultaneously, effectively combining their completion.
How to Get to the Roof of the WPS
Eliminate the stalker near the main entrance of the building so that the door opens and you can enter inside. As expected, a couple of bandits will be waiting for you inside. They are poorly armed, so dealing with them will not be difficult. After neutralizing the threat, climb the stairs to the balcony on the right. Then descend onto the red container, which will allow you to get to the other side of the balcony and climb the ladder to the roof.
Once you are on top, a new task will appear before you — to find the shift supervisor Sever. Head to the large pipes leading to the adjacent building, and carefully inspect them. There you will find the body of the shift supervisor. Search for him to take the key to all the station's rooms, which you need for further progress.
How to Descend into the Basement
You can descend to the underground level of the WPS through the adjacent building, the marker of which is indicated on the map. While moving through the tunnels, you will encounter various anomalies. Initially, we recommend bypassing them on the left side of the tunnel, as there is usually more free space there, significantly reducing the risk of encountering them.
The first right turn will be the most difficult due to the large number of anomalies. After several attempts, we were unable to avoid radiation exposure, so we recommend using vodka or anti-rad to protect against radiation to safely reach the ladder.
How to Kill the Controller
After climbing up, follow each blue marker on your compass, killing the bandits guarding the WPS along the way. When you reach the main room, you will need to kill the controller. This mutant has an incredible amount of health. It took us about 100 bullets to take it down. Its main attack is a stun, during which you cannot move or shoot. Try to take cover behind the concrete walls in the room, gradually dealing damage to the creature.
After listening to the message, you will be given the code to the Monolith safe — 0505. Follow the marker on the map, passing through the hole in the wall of the main room to find the locked door. Use the received code to open it and continue the quest.
In this room you will find:
- AK-47 — useful for further combat encounters or obtaining ammunition
- Ammunition — will help keep your arsenal in good condition
- Anti-radiation drugs — useful for protection against radiation on the way ahead
After taking everything you need, go upstairs, following the markers on the map. Sometimes they will indicate to go higher or lower. Once outside, help Jumper and Sinya fend off another group of bandits. After a successful battle, talk to Jumper, and the quest will be considered complete.
