Hollow Knight: Silksong — How to Cut Through Webs in Act One

Hollow Knight: Silksong belongs to the metroidvania genre, which means that during your playthrough you’ll need to return to familiar levels with new tools that allow you to access previously unreachable locations. However, it’s not always obvious which items you’ll need for this. In our guide, you’ll learn how to break through webs in Act One.

To cut through webs and start the boss fight known as the Bell Beast, you need to acquire the Silk Spear ability. When you reach Bone Bottom, head to the right until you meet the merchant Shakra. Buy a map of the area from this vendor. With it, you’ll find it easier to navigate the territory.

After that, move up and to the left until you reach the Mosshome location. Keep climbing higher. There you’ll see an unusual shrine. Choose the Inspect option. After the cutscene, your arsenal will be replenished with a new weapon called the Silk Spear.

It allows you to deal damage at a distance. This way, you can cut through webs and attack enemies. The spear is especially effective against tough mobs and bosses. However, using it consumes the silk gauge. You can refill it by killing enemies in other ways, such as with your standard weapon.

Return to the entrance of The Marrow location and head to the right. The golden path will lead you to a large beetle covered in webs. Cut through them using the Silk Spear.
