What Happens After Repairing Bonebottom in Hollow Knight: Silksong

The repair in Bonebottom is a quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong that you can receive after defeating the Bell Beast. It will require you to spend resources, but it’s not at all obvious what will change after you complete it. In our guide, you’ll learn how the game world changes when you complete this task.

First, you need to defeat the boss known as the Bell Beast. You can learn how to do this in our complete walkthrough of the game. Then, you need to return to Bonebottom and approach the Wall of Wishes, which by that time will have been repaired by Flick. Two quests are associated with it—repairing this location and killing 12 possessed Farlum pilgrims in the Mohohm area. For completing the second task, you’ll receive a rosary with 120 beads.

You will need 200 Shell Shards. They can be found in chests, bone deposits, and shard bundles, as well as obtained after defeating various enemies. These items are used to complete certain tasks and to replenish the ammunition of tools such as the Straight Pin and Longpin.

The location will visually transform, and more bugs will appear in the area. However, you won’t receive any new items, nor will any new quests become available. There isn’t even an achievement for completing the repair.

In other words, there’s no urgent need to complete this assignment. Meanwhile, Shell Shards are not the rarest resource. As you progress through the game, you’ll constantly replenish your supply. Unlike beads, they are used up rarely, especially in the early stages of the game.
