Hollow Knight: Silksong — Hawker Locations and How to Use the Vagabond Cloak

As you progress through Hollow Knight: Silksong, players will inevitably arrive in the Far Fields region. Here, you can meet a friendly character named Weaver. She offers fabrics and gives out the side quest "Flexible Thorns." Completing it will reward you with a rare item — the "Vagabond Cloak," which allows Hornet to use air currents and thus unlock new paths for exploration.

To complete the quest, you’ll need to collect twenty-five thorn cores. Weaver doesn’t explain where to find the required creatures or how exactly to obtain these cores, so beginners might get confused. The quest refers to Hawkers—green flying beetles that live near Weaver’s home, particularly on the right side of the location. When approached, they become aggressive, attacking in all directions with sharp spikes or trying to strike directly.

The most important detail is that the cores do not drop from the Hawkers themselves, but from their attacks. That is, you need to destroy the spikes. Even if they are stuck in the ground or lodged in the scenery, approach them and attack with your needle. Cores will fall out of the pierced spikes, which will count toward the quest. Therefore, the optimal tactic is to wait until they shoot spikes and only then strike. After a few seconds, new spikes will appear and you can hit them again.

Once you have twenty-five spikes, return to Weaver. As a reward, she will give you the Vagabond Cloak. This item seriously changes how you explore. Now Hornet can unfurl her cloak and glide, as well as use air currents to ascend. The mechanic allows you to access new areas, find hidden platforms and secret passages, making your journey through Pharloom even more diverse.
