Best Legendary Weapons in Borderlands 4: How to Find and Get Them
Vladislav Sham
A distinctive feature of the Borderlands series is the thousands of guns with a wide variety of characteristics. The fourth installment is no exception. Even at the very early stages of the playthrough, you’ll surely want to get your hands on a top-tier pistol, assault rifle, and shotgun. In this guide, you’ll learn how to find the best legendary weapons in Borderlands 4.
General Tips
First, note that legendary guns can drop completely at random. You can increase your chances of getting top-tier weapons in the following ways:
- Complete side quests and earn golden keys. These can be used to open special chests, which sometimes contain excellent weapons.
- Capture launch silos. They are usually guarded by strong enemies, who often have great weapons.
- Defeat the same bosses multiple times. You can access them via Moxxi’s terminal. Legendary guns can be among the rewards for victory.
- Play the game on higher difficulty. This option is only suitable for experienced players. However, in this mode, the chance of getting the best weapons increases.
“Noisy Cricket” Pistol and “Oscar Mike” Assault Rifle
This pistol pierces through enemies, which is especially effective when fighting multiple opponents at once. In addition, there is a 5% chance to trigger an explosion. The assault rifle has an alternate mode that acts as an underbarrel grenade launcher, allowing you to replace your rocket launcher. Both weapons drop from the boss Sidney Sharpclaw. If you missed it, use Moxxi’s terminal to fight him again.
“Lead Ball” Shotgun
Hitting enemies causes an explosion and generates new pellets. It’s an excellent choice for close-quarters battles against groups of regular enemies. You can get it after defeating the boss Waveripper.
“Peacemaker” Pistol and “Aegon’s Dream” Machine Gun
The pistol fires slowly but deals massive damage. The machine gun, in its alternate mode, turns into a shotgun, and its bullets deal both fire and ice damage. This can be useful early on when you haven’t yet adapted your arsenal to the elemental weaknesses of specific enemies. Both weapons drop from the boss Horatia.
"Bear Bug" Assault Rifle
An excellent choice for those who rely on incendiary shots. Remember, fire is especially effective against enemies with a red health bar. The alternate fire mode is an air strike. It has a long reload time but deals massive damage, making it effective in battles against groups of enemies and bosses.
To get this assault rifle, you need to complete the "Gas Question" and "Slippery Question" quests, and then defeat Omega Bio-Grinder in the Fades, Dominion area.
"Esher's Ascension" Sniper Rifle
Critical hits inflict special elemental effects on enemies. For example, they can set an enemy on fire or freeze them. It drops from the boss Oppressor, whom you will encounter during the "A Lot of Processing" quest.
"Rainbow Vomit" Shotgun
This weapon deals three types of elemental damage at once—incendiary, electric, and corrosive. It drops from Leader Willem, whom you can fight after the "Mole's Gambit" mission.
"Budget Deity" Pistol
It can mark two enemies, after which the damage dealt to them is significantly increased. You can get this sidearm after defeating the boss Bio-Bulkhead.
"Annihilating Disco" Grenade
This throwable weapon works like a disco ball, attacking an area with corrosive damage for a certain period of time. However, the grenade moves around the area, so you can't focus the damage on a single enemy. You can find it in the Bitter Vein mine.
"Barrage Fireworks" Shield
An energy shield that attacks enemies with rockets. Moreover, if you have perks related to this type of weapon, they will also work with "Barrage Fireworks." It drops from a boss in the Splash Zone location.
"Burt's Bees" Submachine Gun
This weapon has increased effective range and deals fire and radiation damage. You can find it in the Order chest in the Krawlcroft location.
