Dying Light: The Beast — How to Repair Weapons and Increase Durability
Vladislav Sham
In Dying Light: The Beast, melee weapons wear out and eventually break. It’s important to remember: no item lasts forever. Sooner or later, you’ll have to repair your gear. For those familiar with the series, this is a reminder, and for newcomers — essential information, especially in the early stages.

How to Repair Gear?

If the bar under the weapon icon turns red, it means it’s close to breaking. As soon as you see the warning, don’t delay repairs — otherwise, you might end up unarmed in the heat of battle.
To repair your weapon, follow these steps:
- Open your inventory (press I). It’s best to do this outside of combat — that way, you’re less likely to be caught off guard by enemies.
- Check the item’s condition — pay attention to the durability bar and the Repair label, which shows how many times it can be restored.
- Press the R key. Repairing consumes scrap, and the weapon regains full durability.
For quick repairs, you can use the weapon wheel (hold the 3 key). However, the game won’t pause — it only slows down, so make sure there are no enemies nearby.
As in previous Dying Light games, the number of repair opportunities depends on the weapon’s rarity. In Dying Light: The Beast, common-quality weapons can only be repaired twice, after which you’ll need to forget about them. Higher rarity weapons allow for four repairs. Nevertheless, each has its own limit and none are everlasting.
Sometimes, it may be more reasonable to find a new weapon instead of repairing and upgrading a damaged one. While repairs aren’t expensive, legendary items require more scrap to fix.
