Borderlands 4 Survivalist Caches Guide — All Locations & How to Find Them

Survivalist Caches are a special type of collectible in Borderlands 4, representing hidden chests with valuable contents. In this guide, we’ll describe how to find all Survivalist Caches.

For efficient collection of all Survivalist Caches, it is recommended to first complete all main and side quests in the Fadefields region. This will grant access to all areas where the caches may be hidden. It is also recommended to use the map filter to display only the Survivalist Cache icons, which will greatly simplify the search.

Caches are among the first available sources of good weapons and gear at the beginning of the game, especially in the starting region, The Fadefields. Each cache contains rare items, including weapons, shields, and other useful resources that significantly ease early gameplay.

There are a total of 10 Survivalist Caches in the game, all located in the Fadefields region. Opening all the caches will complete the Cache to Spend challenge and grant you unique weapon cosmetics.

In Borderlands 4, there are many different types of collectibles, such as Vault Symbols, ECHO Logs, Dead Bolts, Lost Capsules, and Survivalist Caches. These items are scattered throughout the map of Kairos.

Collectible icons appear on the map when the player gets close enough to them. Found items are marked in green, while undiscovered ones are marked in blue. Some collectibles are located in areas that only become accessible as you progress through the story or complete side quests. However, after finishing the main campaign, players can freely explore the world and find them at their leisure.

In the Fadefields region, which serves as the game's starting zone, 10 Survivalist Caches are hidden. Below is a detailed guide for finding each one.

The first Survivalist Cache is located in Sarrett's Jetty, on the beach between two sheds. This is one of the easiest caches to find in the game. To reach it, follow the road west from Harper's Hideaway until you reach a small harbor. The cache is located right on the shoreline, between two buildings. Be prepared, as it is guarded by a gang of Reapers that you’ll need to defeat before you can claim the chest’s contents.

The second Survivalist Cache is hidden inside a closed bridge located east of Harper's Hideaway. This bridge crosses a river, and to get inside, you’ll need to find the entrance. Inside the bridge, there’s a crate you can climb on to jump up to the rafters, where the cache is hidden.

The third Survivalist Cache is found in the Haywire Shrine area, on a small hill above the house. This is the last cache in the Coastal Bonescape region. To find it, you’ll need to climb the hill located in the eastern part of this area. The cache is hidden behind houses, on the eastern side of the Rippers' camp. After clearing the area of enemies, you can safely search the surroundings and find the chest.

The fourth Survivalist Cache is located in The Howl region, in a shelter under the turret. To reach it, you need to swim through a broken grate in a pipe on the left edge of the lake, west of Mort's farm in Gushing Turret. Behind the grate, you’ll find a resistance hideout, and the cache will be in the center of the back room.

The fifth Survivalist Cache is hidden in a barn on a hill in The Howl region. To find it, you’ll need to enter a cave located southeast of the cache icon on the map. Inside the cave, use a grappling hook to climb up, then cross the rocks to a side chamber with a hut. The cache will be right next to the hut.

The sixth Survivalist Cache is located in a cave with threshers in The Howl region. To reach it, you’ll need to climb up the rocks marked by a gray area on the map, northeast of Rootdown Estates. At the top, you’ll find rusty debris and a wall you can climb to reach the Dissector Caves. Go through the caves and you’ll find the cache in the back room, next to a red chest.

The seventh Survivalist Cache is hidden in an underground bunker in the Dissected Plateau region. To find it, look for a small hole in the wall that leads underground. The hole is east of the cache icon on the map. Go through the hole, follow the path, and you’ll find it.

The eighth Survivalist Cache is in an abandoned camp. To reach it, climb the rocks on the path to Someday Rise in the Idolator's Noose region. Instead of jumping across the broken wooden bridge, climb down into the ravine it crosses. At the bottom, you’ll find an abandoned camp with the cache.

The ninth Survivalist Cache is hidden in the attic of a structure located above the river in the Coastal Bonescape region. To find it, climb the hill where Haywire Shrine is located and search the back of the houses.

The tenth and final Survivalist Cache is located in a small hole in the wall in The Howl region. To reach it, find the grate you can climb at the marked spot on the map. Climb up, follow the tunnel to the end, defeat all the enemies, and a door will open leading to the chest.

Opening Survivalist Caches grants the player valuable rewards. Each cache contains several rare items, including weapons, shields, and other useful resources. These items can be very helpful in the early stages of the game, as they allow the player to obtain good equipment. In addition, for every cache opened, the player receives 10 SDU Tokens, which can be used to purchase capacity upgrades for ammo, backpack, bank, and the lost loot storage.
