Hollow Knight: Silksong — Explosive Flintbeetles Quest Walkthrough & Rewards

Explosive Flintbeetles is one of the side quests in Hollow Knight: Silksong. It not only grants access to a new enemy type but also allows you to earn useful rewards. In this guide, we’ll tell you where to find explosive flintbeetles and how to complete the quest.

To receive the beetle-related quest, you first need to progress in the game until you reach an area called Bellville. After unlocking the Ringing Path in this location and moving to the Bone Lowlands, a Hunt-type quest will appear on the Wall of Wishes. The wish text reads:

Flintbeetles have awakened in the Skeletal. The gems ripening in their bellies give off pure warmth and never cool. If you collect these treasures, you will receive a generous reward!.

As the quest description suggests, all required enemies are located in the Skeletal area. You can track the flintbeetles by the flint fragments lying on the ground—just approach them and press the Track button. After that, a trail will appear in the air, leading you to one of the three flintbeetles. Important: all enemies are only in the Skeletal area; you do not need to go to any other location. If you don’t want to track the beetles yourself, you can refer to the screenshot below, which shows the locations of all three enemies.

At the end of your search, you may find a piece of hot flint sticking out of a wall. Strike it to start a mini-boss battle.

There is a window of a few seconds between attacks to prepare for the next move. The attacks may not follow the order listed above, so be careful. To defeat the enemies, you can use several simple tactics:

After defeating the flintbeetles, you will receive three gem flints, which must be brought to the Wall of Wishes in the Bone Lowlands. As a reward for completing the quest, you’ll get a Keepsake Medallion, which allows you to unlock an additional tool slot on your chosen Mark. In addition, there will be a corresponding entry about the gem flint in the Materium, which you can obtain as you progress through the game.
