Fighting off zombie hordes isn’t the only thing you’ll be doing in Dying Light: The Beast. The game features many open locations to explore, where you’ll need to search for resources and useful items for your survival. During your hunt, you’ll encounter locked safes that can only be opened with three-digit combinations.

The only challenge is that time isn’t always on your side: you need to find the safe code before the location fills up with zombies. If you’re looking for a quicker solution, this guide contains all safe combinations in Dying Light: The Beast, as well as their locations, hints, and possible loot.

How Combinations Work

Combinations in Dying Light: The Beast are three numbers, read from left to right. If you see a number in a hint that starts with 0, for example "08", you should enter it into the safe without the zero, that is, "8". Most safes contain valuables or consumables, but some may have unique loot tied to quests or the game’s lore.

Finding Hints

In some locations, you’ll find safes whose codes can only be discovered by looking around. Use the UV mode on your flashlight or UV tubes to check for codes on the walls around the safe, as some combinations are written in special ink. Check tables, boards, posters, and photo frames. Code combinations are often hidden in dates, room numbers, or equations. For example, in offices and school classrooms, pay attention to wall boards where a mathematical equation might be written.

Remember, actions at night grant more experience but are also more difficult. If you plan to open safes after dark, bring the necessary consumables, UV devices, and medkits, and prepare an escape route.

Old Town

Train Station

Location: to the west of the train station, climb onto the roof of the office building. On the left, you’ll see a wooden board blocking the passage — move it aside and pick the lock on the door. Inside the room, you can find the code under the TV on the left, and the safe itself is on the cabinet to the right.

  • Hint: note "Exact Time".
  • Code: 12-25-55. If this code doesn’t work, try 12-25-25.
  • Loot: regeneration booster, military medkit.

Victory Safe

Location: find the city hall and jump into the open window on the top floor of the building. Inside, you’ll find a safe and a note underneath it.

  • Hint: note "Victory". The combination is on the signs in the city hall — plaques with room numbers 115-116.
  • Code: 11-51-16.
  • Loot: jewelry, old money, revolver ammo.

Love Letter

Location: find the abandoned house east of the City Hall. Climb inside through the open window on the top floor to reach the kitchen. Hit the painting with the dog on the wall to get the code. Then head to the bedroom, where the safe is located.

  • Hint: note "Love Letter".
  • Code: 14-11-20.
  • Loot: leather bandit mask, valuables.

Farewell Letter

Location: find the house south of the train station, enter through the attic window. Inside, you'll find a body, and on the table above it lies a note with the code. Then go down to the room below through a hole in the floor, where the safe is on the shelf.

  • Hint: note "Farewell Letter".
  • Code: 11-24-32.
  • Loot: perfume.

Apartment on Gallery Square

Location: find and climb into the abandoned building right between the taxi depot and the Dark Zone.

  • Hint: note "Homework".
  • Code: 12-18-22.
  • Loot: revolver ammo.

Orange Hotel

Location: in the northern part of Old Town, near the Library Tower, there is a marked Orange Hotel location. This is northeast of Nate's Market. Enter the room on the top floor through the open window to find the safe. The first note is in the hotel itself, and the second is near the entrance to the shop in the Dark Zone.

  • Hints: "Hotel Note", note "Code Reminder".
  • Code: 07-06-01.
  • Loot: valuables, military medkit.

Experimental Chamber for the Infected

Location: sneak through the open window of one of the research stations near the green hotel in Old Town. Inside the room with the safe, there is a whiteboard, which, if illuminated with a UV device (flashlight or UV tube), will reveal the code.

  • Hint: note "Experiment on the Infected", equations on the nearby whiteboard visible under ultraviolet light.
  • Code: 15-22-40.
  • Loot: mod blueprint.

Quest "Hydro-Puzzle"

Chief Engineer's Safe

Location: during the quest where you need to find the Chief Engineer's Key, you'll find a safe on the upper floors of the Waterworks Repair Facility.

  • Hint: note "Incident Report".
  • Code: 27-01-15. If this code doesn't work, try 27-01-06.
  • Loot: Chief Engineer's key, valuables, military medkit.

Debt Safe

Location: once you reach the lower levels of the facility during the quest, follow the yellow pipe and you'll arrive at the required safe. Use a UV device to illuminate code markings on the nearby walls.

  • Hint: note "Debt Payment".
  • Code: 21-69-35.
  • Loot: old alcohol.

Villas

Emil Brick Elementary School

Location: follow the instructions on Treasure Map D1. The school is in the residential sector, and the safe is in the teacher's office. Find an open window on the lower floor of the school building, just after passing through the west gate. Inside, go right to reach the restroom. From there, climb into the hatch above. Go through the doorway to the left and enter the first door on the left side — you'll find the safe in this office.

  • Hint: next to the safe on the board is a binary code, which, when converted to decimal SI, gives the code.
  • Code: 05-50-90.
  • Loot: smartphone, jewelry.

Strange Recipe

Location: abandoned motel in the "Golden Pine" district. The safe can be found in the kitchen of the building, next to a corpse. Across from it are several recipes, and you need the "strangest" one in the cabinet.

  • Hint: recipe "Spicy (and Freaking) Banana Pudding".
  • Code: 86-15-10.
  • Loot: revolver ammo.

"Bloodsucker Bunny" Concert

Location: go to the far upper left section of the area, where you'll find an abandoned house. You need to get a fuse, which is located in the house near a corpse that you can reach through a window. Then go down to the basement, use the fuse, and go inside. There you'll find a safe, and the code will be written on a nearby concert poster.

  • Hint: "Note 2".
  • Code: 02-02-19.
  • Loot: Legendary Sunray revolver, revolver ammo.

Quest "Last Wish". First Safe

Location: The safe is on the table — you need the left one of the two standing next to each other. The code is given in a note found inside Henry's shop in the city.

  • Hint: note "Iris Safe Code".
  • Code: 20-07-06.
  • Loot: Iris music box.

Farms

Nate's Market

Location: right outside the border of the Dark Zone, you'll find a green metal locker. Enter the code from the note found in the house east of the market.

  • Hint: note "Message".
  • Code: 08-74-27
  • Loot: military medkit, UV tube.

Pembroke Farm

Location: abandoned building at Pembroke Farms. The safe is in the wall of one of the rooms.

  • Hint: sheet with Fibonacci numbers on the nightstand.
  • Code: 34-55-89.
  • Loot: smartphone, jewelry.

New Grain Trailer

Location: abandoned barn at Pembroke Farms.

  • Hint: the note with the code can be found in the trailer on the way to the barn.
  • Code: 11-20-30.
  • Loot: UV tube.

Quest "Last Wish". Second and Third Safes

Location: as you progress through the quest, you'll reach the area east of Emil Brick School. Enter the abandoned garage near the road by climbing into the open window above after going around the building. Inside, you'll find two safes and a note for them.

  • Hint: note with codes for both safes.
  • Code: 11-17-08 and 71-61-45.
  • Loot: valuables.

Industrial Zone

Gummy Bears

Location: west of the Dark Zone of the huge red-brick Taurus warehouse and through the sewer system leading northwest. Jump into the sewer and head north, then enter the building where you'll find the safe and a note opposite each other.

  • Hint: note with the Gummy Bears recipe.
  • Code: 18-20-66.
  • Loot: C-OM pistol, morphine.

Industrial Park. Abandoned Building

Location: Use Treasure Map C1. Go straight north from the Taurus warehouse Dark Zone and south from the bus station on the highway. Climb onto the building located north of the railway tracks. You can enter through a window leading into a room with a whiteboard showing part of the code. The safe is in the same room.

  • Hint: Whiteboard with part of the code written on it. Shine UV light to see the full code.
  • Code: 85-20-48.
  • Loot: medkit, SMG ammo.

Amusement Island

Fisherholm

Location: a bit southeast of the Taurus warehouse Dark Zone. Enter the abandoned building through the open window — inside the room you'll find a safe.

  • Hint: on the left side of the room there is a table with a box on it. Hit the box, and under it you'll find a code that needs to be logically completed.
  • Code: 22-44-66.
  • Loot: antibiotics, medkit.

If You Encounter a Problem

If you can't find the safe at the specified location, visit it during the related quest. Some safes only appear as part of a quest chain. If the given code doesn't open the safe, check nearby areas for a note or UV markings. These details may change with future patches.

How to Open a Safe Without a Code (Controller Method)

If you're playing with a controller and vibration enabled, slowly turn the safe's dial. You'll feel a slight vibration when passing the correct number. Stop at these spots to pick the right combination. When passing through the number 50, you will always feel a vibration — ignore it in the code if the other three numbers gave a positive response. This method is not guaranteed, but it can help you skip the hint search stage with some safes. When using this method, move the controller stick slowly. After identifying two numbers, you can feel the third one by moving the stick without slowing down.

The time spent opening safes in Dying Light: The Beast won't be wasted — with this guide, you'll always find something useful inside, which will come in handy during your next trip to a Dark Zone, a night raid, or your next boss fight.
