Silent Hill f is a story set in a provincial Japanese town, centered around a young high school graduate. The girl must endure a spiritual crisis and fight the embodiments of her own fears. In this guide, we’ll explain how to solve the final wall mural puzzle, where to find all the emblems, and how to correctly place them on the fresco to get different endings.

How to Start the Puzzle

The wall mural is the last puzzle in the game. To reach it, you need to pass through the city, fields, school, mountains, and the Shimizu family house. It is a giant fresco showing a procession of foxes escorting an important figure. There are nine holes on the painting, and you need to insert these items into three of them in a certain position:

  • Emblem with a fox mask.
  • Emblem with a white sparrow.
  • Emblem with a black sparrow.

To understand how to place the symbols, you need to read the note to the left of the fresco. Depending on the ending, for which you need to fulfill certain conditions during the story, the hint text and the arrangement of the medallions will differ. The solutions for each finale will be described after we explain where to find the emblems.

How to Find All Emblems

In the mural room, there are doors that open in a specific sequence. From the mural hall, the heroine enters a room with Inari statues, where you need to find the correct statue and pull out the arrowhead. Then the sculpture turns toward the correct screen, and its eyes light up blue.

As a result, Hinako ends up in a room with a black box at the end. To reach it, you must pass a combat challenge. Then, from this location, the heroine returns to the wall mural. This is how you get all three emblems. It’s important to note that if you enter the wrong door in the room with the Inari statues, you’ll end up in a hall with monsters, and you can only leave after defeating all the creatures.

How to Find the Black Sparrow Emblem

Enter the door to the left of the mural. Open the screen by the fox statue on the left and pull out the arrow fragment. Defeat the sword-wielders, go to the end of the corridor, and take the black sparrow emblem from the box. Now leave the room with the black box and go into the room on the right. Remove the wall in concentration mode and go through the gate on the right into the mural hall.

How to Find the White Sparrow Emblem

Go through the door opposite the mural to enter the room with monuments. Approach the halo of blood, create an Inari statue in concentration mode, and pull the arrow from its neck. Choose the screen indicated by the sculpture. At the end of the corridor, defeat the giant and three sword-wielders. Take the white sparrow emblem and return to the mural hall.

How to Find the Fox Mask Emblem

Choose the screen to the right of the mural and enter the hall with many Inari statues. Look for the monument in the left corner, standing next to the farthest figure. Pull out the arrowhead to the right of the tail and open the door indicated by the sculpture.

In the final stage, you’ll have to kill the queen and two sword-wielders. Destroy the cocoons, as faceless enemies hatch from them. After victory, take the fox mask emblem from the box, watch the cutscene of Hinako’s dialogue with her sister, and return to the mural hall.

Solution for the “Home, to the Native Nest” Ending

The standard solution for your first playthrough. The note to the left of the mural says:

The black bird wants to take the white bird. The white bird prefers to resist. The fox leads his followers to triumph. He doesn’t notice the two birds have entered into conflict.

Following the hint, arrange the emblems as follows:

  • Fox mask emblem (1): The fan of the first fox on the right, followed by all the others.
  • White sparrow emblem (2): Just right of center, two foxes are carrying a lamp. Place the medallion in the white lantern.
  • Black sparrow emblem (3): The fox in a red kimono trying to take the lantern.

Solution for the “Fox Wedding” Ending

For this ending, the hint contains a three-line poem:

The black bird has finally been caged. The satisfied fox opens his fan. The white bird remains in a stupor. Everything completely changed while she slept.

Accordingly, the medallions should be placed as follows:

  • Fox mask emblem (1): The fan of the first fox on the right.
  • Black sparrow emblem (2): The important vixen holding a lantern in her left paw.
  • White sparrow emblem (3): The fox in the center holding a lamp in his right hand.

Solution for the “The Fox Got Its Tail Wet” Ending

For this ending, the note reads:

The white bird breaks free from the cage. She is chased by her own shadow. The fox lifts the lantern, watching them fly away. Now he can change nothing.

After studying the verse, arrange the medallions in this order:

  • Fox mask emblem (1): The first fox on the left in a red kimono, looking at the backs of the escapees.
  • Black sparrow emblem (2): On the far right, two foxes are running east. One has placed the lantern on his right shoulder.
  • White sparrow emblem (3): The second escapee on the far right is holding a stick with a lamp in his left hand.

Solution for the “Silence in Ebisugaoka” Ending

For this ending, the note contains a quatrain:

Two little birds share secrets with each other in their shells. The fox watches them in the lantern’s light. No one knows when a chick will hatch from the egg. Even the birds themselves do not know when it will happen, or if it ever will.

In this case, arrange the medallions as follows:

  • Fox mask emblem (1): In the red kimono on the left.
  • Black sparrow emblem (2): On the box in the upper left corner of the carriage.
  • White sparrow emblem (3): Lantern in the left hand of the important figure.

What Completing the Puzzle Gives

After finishing the puzzle, the wall mural will dissolve. Now you can open the gate and leave the dark sanctuary. This begins the final part of the game: a chase after the foggy monster through the city, the final boss fight, the last cutscenes, and the credits.
