The Outer Worlds 2 is a stylish RPG-shooter that invites you to visit various planets. Players will have to assemble a team of like-minded companions and save extraterrestrial colonies from a spatial anomaly. In this guide, we’ll explain how to get the gas-energy deflection device and what it’s used for.

You’ll learn a reliable way to access the Automech Repair Center on the southwest coast of Paradise Island. We’ll also describe how to find Delphinia Bryant, as well as where to locate the catalytic amplifier and holo-emitter.

What is the Gas Deflector For

The Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus is a special protective gadget that temporarily reflects incoming damage. In addition, it can protect you from being poisoned by zirane. This is a green gas used in automechs. Sometimes it is found in natural sources or depressurized pipelines. Inhaling the vapors leads to death within seconds.

How to Get the Gas Deflector

You can obtain the gadget as part of the side quest An Aegis Against the Miasma. To start the quest, it’s best to get a pass at the Ministry of Accuracy, then go to the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center. There, you’ll find Chief deviser Delphinia Bryant, who will help you create the gas deflector.

Note: If you attacked the repair center and killed all the soldiers, you won’t be able to get the gas-energy deflector.

How to Enter the Repair Center

The Automech Repair Center is located on the southeastern coast. It may become your target during the story quest Above and Beyond Repair or The Saga of the Malfunctioning Mechanicals.

A guaranteed way to get onto the center’s grounds is to break into the Ministry of Accuracy and print a pass in your name using the terminal on the second floor. If you have Engineer skill level three, you can go straight to the repair shop and pass the persuasion check.

How to Find Delphinia Bryant

Go through the checkpoint and turn right at the bend. Watch the conflict between Marshal Donelson and Chief Mechanic Woodrow Contos. You can talk to the commander, who will tell you where to find Delphinia, but this will start the side quest Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors, during which you’ll need to eliminate the source of the zirane leak.

Delphinia is located in the first repair bay. Above each bay entrance, there is a sign with a gear. You don’t need to have any active quests for her to give you a task. The inventor will tell you about her development and give you the Zyranium collector.

Find the huge breach in the wall of the main building and look to the left. There you’ll see green zyranium fumes. Carefully approach and collect a gas sample in the jar, then return to Delphinia. Do not get too close to the cloud, or your character will die.

Now you need to obtain a special component to create the gadget. In the standard route, this is the Catalytic Amplifier. However, if your character has high Engineer and Science! skills, you can convince Delphinia to use the Holo-emitter instead.

How to Find the Catalytic Amplifier

There are two ways to get the Catalytic Amplifier. Find a broken combat dragoon robot or convince the chief engineer to give it to you. Below, we’ll describe each method in detail.

Broken Dragoon

Leave the repair shop area, turn left, and go down to the shore. The machine wreckage is surrounded by a small pack of crabs. Defeat them and take the part from the dragoon.

Convince Woodrow

The chief mechanic is in the neighboring bay. If your character has high Speech and Leadership skills, he will immediately hand over the part. Otherwise, go to the marshal’s office opposite the repair station. Approach the terminal and read all the correspondence. Donelson won’t react to this. Now return to Woodrow and persuade him to give you the amplifier.

How to Find the Holo-emitter

Head to Fairfield. Look for the huge hologram of the Aunt Cosmos corporation logo on the roof of the town hall. Climb up there and take the holo-emitter from the installation. Return to Delphinia, give her the part, and receive the protective deflector.
