Victory Over Noxious Fumes in The Outer Worlds 2: How to Shut Off the Zyranium Pipeline
Vladislav Sham
The Outer Worlds 2 is a space action game set in the era of distant planet explorers. Players must decide the fate of extraterrestrial colonies and take part in conflicts between intergalactic alliances. In this guide, we’ll explain how to help Marshal Donelson from the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center. You’ll also learn how to bypass the poisonous zyranium fumes and get a step-by-step guide to eliminating the consequences of the green gas leak.
How to Start the Quest
To start the quest, you need to get to the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center. This can happen during quests such as Above and Beyond Repair or The Saga of the Malfunctioning Mechanicals.
Go through the checkpoint, head forward, and turn right. You’ll witness a conflict between Marshal Donelson and Chief Mechanic Woodrow Contos. There has been a major zyranium leak at the plant — a green poisonous gas that can kill a person in seconds, used to fuel automechs. To activate the quest Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors, start a dialogue with the commander, who will ask you to deal with the consequences of the accident.
How to Get Through the Checkpoint
The location is in the southwest of Paradise Island, and the entrance to the repair shop is guarded. To get inside, you need to convince the guard by having Engineer skill level three or a pass from the Ministry of Accuracy. The building is west of Fairfield. You can print the pass on the second floor.
How to Enter the Main Building
You can enter the main building through a huge breach in the wall. However, inside there’s a large pool of concentrated zyranium. So, it’s better to enter the first repair bay, marked with a gear emblem, and talk to Chief deviser Delphinia Bryant.
This will start the side quest An Aegis Against the Miasma. Delphinia will give you a Zyranium collector, which you need to use to collect a gas sample to the left of the hole in the main building. Bring her the vial and get a new task — to find a Catalytic Amplifier or, if you have high Engineer and Science! skills, a Holo-emitter.
Take the amplifier from the dragoon lying on the shore near the repair center, or use information from the marshal’s terminal to persuade Woodrow to give you the part. If you agreed with Delphinia to get the emitter, look for it on the roof of the town hall in Fairfield. Bring the part to the inventor and receive the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus, which temporarily protects the hero from zyranium fumes.
How to Shut Off the Pipes
Enter the main building of the repair center through the hole in the wall and quickly get past the zyranium puddle. Go into the next room through the door on the left using the Lockpicking skill, or crawl into the ventilation shaft in the maintenance pit.
Eliminate the drones and enter the control room. Open the zyranium flow regulation terminal and vent the fumes from the room. Now you need to find two valves and shut off the gas supply. Then return to the computer and close the pipelines.
How to Find the First Pipe
Exit the control room through the door to the right of the terminal. Take out the dragoon and climb to the upper level using the boxes or repair the elevator with the Engineer skill. Go through the doorway, turn right, and flip the valve.
How to Find the Second Pipe
Get out onto the roof of the complex, reach the other side, and re-enter the workshop. Keep in mind that you’ll find yourself in a small room alone with a dragoon. Eliminate it or sneak past to get through the door on the right. Shut off the pipe and go down the stairs to the control room. Open the terminal, disable the gas supply, and return to the marshal for your reward.
