Of Ash and Steel: All Legendary Weapons and How to Find Them
Vladislav Sham
Of Ash and Steel requires players to understand the game’s combat mechanics and to memorize enemy behaviors to consistently come out on top in battles. However, even that won’t be enough without strong weapons. In this guide, we’ll explain how to find every legendary weapon. You’ll learn their stats and the exact locations of each sword and axe.
Legendary Weapons in Of Ash and Steel
Every item has its own rarity category, from common to legendary. Weapons are no exception. Legendary weapons have ultimate stats and require high attribute values from your hero. For example, take the one-handed “Serrated Sword,” which you’ll get during the “Strange Crystals” story quest if you kill the recruiter from the Greschaft Hounds:
- Damage (slashing): 35.
- Attack speed: 110%.
- Fortitude: +10.
- Required Strength: 55.
This sword has great stats, but you’ll need at least 55 Strength to wield it. So, build your character around specific weapon types, since some legendary weapons may be useless in certain situations.
Mace, Frailty of Power (One-handed/Blunt)
Not only does it deal massive damage, but it also boosts your hero’s attributes while equipped:
- Damage (blunt): 89.
- Attack speed: 80%.
- Strength: +3.
- Dexterity: +3.
- Endurance: +3.
- Insight: +3.
- Fortitude: +3.
- Stagger chance: +15%.
- Required Strength: 75.
How to Get It
The mace is found in the “Camp” area. Head southeast from the brick tower toward the spot where Tristan’s camp was at the start of the game. Move right from the path down to the shore until you spot some decayed corpses. Enter the abandoned graveyard and look for the staircase to the left of the entrance, leading to a crypt with a level 35 Death Reaper.
Sword, Moonblade (One-handed/Slashing)
Applies a bleeding effect to enemies:
- Damage (slashing): 45.
- Critical hit chance: +20%.
- Required Strength: 75.
How to Get It
In the northeast of the “Ivar’s Village” area, there are ruins inhabited by cursed marauders. To open the passage, you need to pull a lever—this will summon a skeleton. Do not attack it. Let it land a few hits on you, and the gate will unlock.
There’s an enemy standing near the entrance. If he notices you, he’ll try to attack. In this case, pulling the lever won’t do anything. So don’t get too close to the gate and make sure you’re not in combat with anyone.
Inside the crypt, you’ll face plenty of cursed marauders, and at the end, a level 40 mini-boss who drops the weapon. In the final room, you’ll find a royal chair with a skeleton and two chests.
Hammer, Titan's Wrath (Two-handed/Blunt)
In the southwest part of the “Ivar’s Village” area, there’s an abandoned house occupied by a bandit gang. Defeat their leader and take the hammer.
- Damage (blunt): 80.
- Attack speed: 65%.
- Stagger chance: +25%.
- Required Strength: 70.
Axe, Titan's Wrath (Two-handed/Slashing)
Deals 30% more damage to monsters and animals. Also grants attribute bonuses while equipped.
- Damage (slashing): 90.
- Attack speed: 85%.
- Endurance: +10.
- Fortitude: +10.
- Stagger chance: +15%.
- Required Strength: 70.
How to Find It
In the southwest part of “Ivar’s Village,” there’s an abandoned house with bandits. Behind it is the shore. Head down to the water and swim along the rocks until you spot an entrance to a crypt on your left. Defeat the level 40 Reaper to claim the axe.
Axe, Iron Grip (One-handed/Slashing)
Enter the “Swamp Village” biome. Follow the main road east until you come across a group of deserters. The axe drops from their leader.
- Damage (slashing): 80.
- Attack speed: 95%.
- Critical hit chance: +20%.
- Stagger chance: +20%.
- Required Strength: 50.
Axe, Fangs of the Abyss (Two-handed/Slashing)
On the second floor of the city guard building, you’ll find Galat. Defeat him and pick up the axe. Then find the bounty hunter and pay a fine of about 100 coins. This is the easiest way to get legendary gear early in the game.
- Damage (slashing): 80.
- Attack speed: 80%.
- Endurance: +10.
- Stagger chance: +15%.
- Required Strength: 65.
Sword, Gaze from Above (Two-handed/Slashing)
Leave Greschaft through the customs bridge at the port. Follow the path into the farmlands and look for a climbable spot on the right. Enter the deserters’ camp and pick up the sword from the leader’s body.
- Damage (slashing): 89.
- Attack speed: 90%.
- Stagger chance: +20%.
- Required Strength: 75.
Rapier, Serpentine Scar
While equipped, increases ranged weapon damage by a quarter:
- Damage (piercing): 43.
- Attack speed: 110%.
- Ranged: +25%.
- Critical hit chance: +30%.
- Required Dexterity: 65.
How to Get It
Head to the fork near the first village in the “Alpha and Omega” area. Turn right and follow the path straight until you see a lake on your left. At the end of the trail, you’ll find a campfire and the entrance to a crypt.
The crypt is sealed with a wooden door you can knock on. There’s a note on the ground nearby—make sure to read it. The doors will only open if your character is wet. To do this, you can swim in the lake or wait for it to rain outside. At the end, defeat the level 40 Reaper to claim the rapier.
Mace, Sun of Astarte
Head to the northeastern coast of Greschaft. Go down to the far north end of the shore and swim along the rocks until you spot a crypt on your left. On a stone, you’ll find the note “Strange Notes — 5.” Pick it up and interact with the stone wall. Defeat the level 40 Reaper to get the weapon.
- Damage (blunt): 82.
- Attack speed: 70%.
- Endurance: +10.
- Stagger chance: +15%.
- Required Dexterity: 65.
Sword, Proud Eagle (One-handed/Slashing)
Enter the “Frost Valley” biome. Find the tower in the west, which is inhabited by cursed marauders. Defeat the mini-boss and claim your reward. At the top, there’s a vantage point where Tristan can sketch this part of the map.
- Damage (blunt): 60.
- Attack speed: 100%.
- Endurance: +10.
- Required Dexterity: 60.
