At the beginning of 2025, The Sims Studio released the major expansion Through the Ages (Royalty & Legacy). Here, players can take their place at the royal court, climb the ranks, and get involved in palace intrigue. The DLC also adds lots of new interior items, clothing, furniture, and unique social mechanics. To launch the add-on, you need the latest version of the game: The Sims 4 v1.121.361.1020. Update it through your launcher, and the expansion will always launch together with the game.

Your authority as king depends on your relationships with courtiers and commoners. It increases with your decisions, the strength of your dynasty, and certain artifacts you possess. If you want to stay in power for a long time, you’ll need to marry into a powerful house and have heirs. Level them up too, so if your main Sim dies, they can take the throne.

Only one monarch can rule in a single region, but there is a way to extend your influence to other worlds.

Simcalibur is a unique artifact that gives its owner immense power. The sword lets you take the throne without leveling up the entire aristocrat career branch. Other Sims can also use the relic to overthrow your Sim. So, even after your coronation, you’ll want to get it to strengthen your influence.

The artifact is located in the central square of Verdemar. The sword is stuck in a huge stone, and you’ll need to pull it out. Keep in mind that after three failed attempts, your Sim will lose one title rank and get a strong debuff to self-esteem, ambition, and charisma.

To guarantee you can pull Simcalibur from the stone, you need to meet these requirements: level 8 in Fencing and level 4 relationships with commoners. Once you meet these, the artifact will appear in your Sim’s inventory. You can also use it to boost the mood of everyone nearby by two points, which helps in the race for influence among courtiers and subjects.
