Vladislav Sham

Resident Evil Requiem stands out from previous games with its variety of infected enemies. You always need to remember that zombies almost never stay dead for good. Even after emptying several magazines into them and tossing grenades, there’s no guarantee you won’t run into the same body again later, only now it might be even more dangerous. Still, there are ways to get rid of infected enemies for good. In this guide, you'll learn how to quickly defeat the singers, take down the chef, and deal with the big guy, Chunk.

How to Defeat the Singers

Singers are almost the same as regular infected, they have about the same amount of health. Before fighting them, it’s a good idea to have at least one makeshift knife to save your ammo. Take a few shots at their head from a distance to make them lose balance or fall, then get close and finish them off with the knife. Surprisingly, this will kill the singer quickly, and you’ll usually find an antique coin where she fell.

How to Kill the Chef (Butcher)

Not many players try to take on this infected during their first playthrough, and that’s understandable. He’s pretty big, moves fast, and can kill you in a single hit with his cleaver, so getting close is extremely risky.

Before we get into the best way to take him out, keep in mind: fighting this zombie is optional, but it’s very rewarding. After you kill the butcher, you’ll get the Storage Room Key for the kitchen, there’s no other way to get in. Inside, you’ll find two buckets of infected blood to collect, the only round for the Requiem revolver, the Takeout Charm (which boosts melee weapon damage and durability), and a wooden (deformed) cabinet for Leon. That cabinet will have an accessory suitable for any weapon.

So, here are a couple of ways to beat the chef:

  1. The easiest way is to use a homologous injector. You only need one dose to completely wipe him out. It’s not hard to get close, early in the game, he patrols the first floor of the west wing.
  2. Use the Requiem revolver. The butcher is pretty tough, so you’ll need at least two shots to finish him.

How to Kill the Chunk

If you've made it past the rehabilitation center, you've probably run into this enemy while playing as Leon. But you can also defeat him when playing as Grace. He patrols the corridors of the east wing and will often harass the heroine, especially when you’re heading to the chief of security’s office while carrying the girl.

You can actually take this monster out in advance. Like other enemies in the game, Chunk has a set amount of health. Of course, you could try to kill him with a regular handgun, but that’s just not practical, you’d never find or craft enough ammo.

The most effective way to deal with Chunk is to use homologous injectors. We’re emphasizing the number for a reason: unlike most infected, Chunk can survive two shots of this serum. To guarantee a kill, you’ll need three injectors, whether you use them all at once or with breaks in between.

You could also try to beat this boss with Leon Kennedy’s Requiem revolver, but ammo can be a problem. At the start, Grace only has one round, since Leon used four out of five to save his unexpected companion. Revolver ammo can be crafted from rare scrap metal found in locked cabinets in the rehab center. You’ll need at least three rounds to take down Chunk.

After you defeat this giant, he’ll dissolve into the floor, leaving behind the Spy’s Eye charm. Put it in Grace’s inventory for a nice bonus: your chance to survive a fatal hit goes up significantly. This is especially useful on the highest difficulty in Resident Evil Requiem, where any enemy encounter can be deadly.
