Crimson Desert: All Legendary Animal Locations and How to Unlock Mounts

In a recent update for Crimson Desert, the developers added new rideable animals — mounts with their own stats, abilities, and behaviors. This guide will show you where to find all the new mounts in Crimson Desert, how to unlock them, and what you need to do to ride each one.

All animals follow the same general taming principle. You need to find the legendary creature’s habitat on the map, defeat it, skin the carcass, and get a special item. For boss mounts, you’ll also need to complete a questline and beat a tougher opponent first. Once you get the item, bring it to any nearby witch and trade it for a Sigil of Solidarity. After you activate the sigil, the mount will become available in your menu. This method works for all new rideable animals in Crimson Desert.

To see the locations of all legendary animals, you’ll need a special item — Leebur’s Soul. When used, it marks the locations of all new mounts on your map. You unlock this item after completing the Legendary Wolf questline in Hernand. The questline itself becomes available only after you finish part of the region’s side quests.

To access the Black Fang branch, you need to progress through the House Celeste quests in Hernand. The required questline starts with Silence from Afar, but before that, you’ll need to complete a significant portion of Hernand’s side quests, including those from other houses and related regional groups.

The Black Fang itself is tracked using a lantern and is fought in two phases. After the first health bar, it escapes, and you’ll have to track it down again. Once you win, you’ll get Shadow Claw Abyss Gear and Leebur’s Soul. It’s best to use Leebur’s Soul right away, since it instantly marks all legendary animal locations on your map. This makes it much faster to find all the new mounts in Crimson Desert, without having to explore every region by hand.

You’ll find the White Bear in the far north of Pywel, in the snowy zone near Silverwolf Mountain. After defeating the bear, make sure to skin it and bring the trophy to a witch to create the summoning item.

Taking everything into account, the bear is easily the strongest out of the new five mounts. It can attack while moving, uses a heavy combo, and after you dismount, it lets out a roar that stuns enemies in an area and keeps fighting on its own, even if you’re not riding it anymore. Unlike the wolf, the bear can handle tough battles and is great for clearing out camps with lots of enemies.

The main downside of the bear is its low speed. It’s not the best for traveling across the map, but as a combat mount, it’s hands-down the top pick from the new group.

The Snowwhite Deer can be found in the northern part of Pywel, above the letter A on the region map, near the river. This animal can wander around the area, so you’ll need to search the whole small zone around the marker. After you defeat the deer, make sure to skin it and take the trophy.

This is a light mount focused on making travel across the map easier. It has a chargeable ram attack and a decent jump that helps with rough terrain, but overall, it’s more of a beautiful collector’s mount than anything else.

After you defeat Black Fang and use Leebur’s Soul, you can go after Silver Fang. It’s located in Howling Hollow, near the Forest of Wolves in the Pywel region. The wolf spawns near a pack of regular wolves, and the fight takes place in a narrow forest area with the added challenge of poisonous purple flowers. Once you win, skin the carcass to get the Fang of Silver Fang, then visit a witch to create the Sigil of Solidarity and summon the mount.

Silver Fang can attack nearby enemies while moving and after you dismount, but it’s still noticeably weaker than the White Bear. The wolf helps distract some enemies and can sometimes knock them down, but it’s not really a full-fledged combat companion. Primarily, it’s a rare collector’s mount rather than a true battle ride.

The Rock Tusk Warthog is a boss mount. It becomes available after you defeat Ravok of the Savage Fangs during the Savage Fang questline in the Crimson Desert cycle. You’ll find the boss in the eastern part of this location, in the southern area of the Bordig Ruins.

After the fight begins, the boss battle has two phases. When the first health bar runs out, the boss runs away, and you’ll need to either find it again nearby or track it around the area with your lantern. Once you finally defeat it, you’ll get the Rock Tusk Warthog Molar, which, like the other trophies, can be traded with a witch for a Sigil of Solidarity.

The main ability of this mount is a short, powerful dash that lets you break through weak enemies and deal damage straight ahead. After you dismount, it doesn’t have any notable combat skills, so it’s best used to start fights with a charge or to quickly scatter groups of weaker foes.

The Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex is the hardest mount to obtain out of the new five. To reach it, you need to finish chapter seven and unlock the Pailune region, then complete the main story quest Healing Pailune in chapter eight.

After that, you’ll need to finish the Pailune Militia quests to unlock the Skoghorn Tribe questline, then complete those to access the Longleaf Tribe quests. In this branch, you’ll find the quest chain that leads to the boss hunt for Moren, the Mistwood Huntmaster. The fight itself happens during the quest The Sport Hunter, which is part of the Fog Over the Forest storyline.

Once you reach the right area, head north of the Ridge Hunter Tannery. From there, the pattern is familiar — find the boss, clear the first phase, then track it with your lantern and finish it off in the second phase. After you win, you’ll get the Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex Horns, which you can trade with the witch for a Sigil of Solidarity.

This is one of the best mounts for getting around. It doesn’t replace the top horses, but it’s much more convenient than most animals when it comes to rough terrain. It has a great jump, solid stamina, and handles uneven ground much better than regular horses. It’s almost useless in combat, but as a travel mount, it’s actually pretty good.

So, all the new mounts in Crimson Desert are unlocked through the same mechanic: find the animal, defeat it, and trade the trophy for a Sigil of Solidarity. The most useful ones are the White Bear for combat and the Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex for moving across challenging terrain.
