Unforeseen Yet Foretold Prologue Walkthrough in NTE: Neverness to Everness
Vladislav Sham
NTE: Neverness to Everness is a new open-world game with gacha mechanics from the creators of Tower of Fantasy. The story puts you in the role of an urban anomaly hunter dealing with the aftermath of a sky rift incident. In this guide, we'll walk you through the first main story mission and share some tips for fighting the boss.
Walkthrough for "Unforeseen Yet Foretold" (Chapter 0: Prologue)
The first story mission in Neverness to Everness introduces you to the basics of combat, character swapping, anomalies, and dodging.
After picking a game server, you get to create your main character. Choose whichever gender you like for your Zero Esper and hit Confirm.
How to complete the introduction and reach the garage
You'll see a cutscene showing the city being infected by an anomaly. You'll meet a special ops squad and take control of your first characters. Fight through enemies using three different heroes, making use of their skills and ultimate abilities. After another cutscene with the main character, you'll arrive at the garage in a van.
Talk to Nelly, step into the red phone booth, and approach the girl in the big hall with the globe. Watch another cutscene with the intro characters, then head through the metal detectors into the hall with the large token on the wall. Go up the red stairs to the second floor and speak with Mint.
Take the elevator to the top floor and enter the director's office. Talk to her and sign a contract where you set your nickname. The director will give you a business card for the "Eibon" antique shop, and you'll witness an anomaly breakthrough.
How to enter the anomaly and find Mint
Step through the multicolored frame to enter another dimension. You need to find Mint, so follow the marked spot on the map along the forest path. Talk to her, fight off two monsters, and go up the stairs.
You'll come out onto a field with three more enemies and get introduced to the Esper Cycle mechanic. While you're fighting with one character, you'll see a glowing ring appear on the avatar of your second hero on the right. When this happens, swap characters to trigger special enhanced attacks.
Keep moving toward the nexus and approach the red tunnel ahead. Talk with Mint, then head inside. A whole train materializes around your character, and you need to calmly walk through the train cars. At the end, you'll find a red frame and exit the anomaly into the open city, now covered in some strange smoke.
Go a bit further and you'll encounter a monster shaped like a vending machine with arms. Here, you'll learn about basic and critical dodging, which gives you a brief window of invulnerability. After a critical dodge, you can press the basic attack button to perform a critical counterattack, stunning the enemy.
Take down the vending machine and enter the alley on the right. Talk with the director and run through the orange corridor. You'll reach a big arena with four trash can enemies. Clear the arena and check out the bright corner marked Alice Bakery. Release the Picture Frame anomaly and get ready for your first boss fight.
How to defeat the Picture Frame boss
The first boss in Neverness to Everness isn't too tough, but it's important to use dodges and attack interrupts wisely during the fight.
In the first phase, the boss uses simple attacks: rocket barrages, spraying liquid in multiple streams, and a charging rush that you can interrupt with a basic attack or a skill. When the red rings merge into a single yellow one, that's your cue to interrupt the boss's attack and land a counter. Make sure to use this mechanic to gain an edge over your enemies.
Once the boss's health drops to half, the second phase begins. The boss dives underground, explodes, and floods the arena with red liquid. New attacks include transforming into a whale and summoning dolphins. You can easily dodge these with a regular dash.
After your victory, the anomaly is nullified and disappears. Watch the final cutscene, talk to the director about your work, and drive off into the open city.
