Saros True Ending Guide — How to Unlock the Secret Ending

Saros is a new game from the creators of Returnal. It features at least two endings: a standard one and an extended one. To see the standard ending, you just need to finish the game, but for the true finale, you’ll have to complete a few extra steps after the credits roll. In this guide, we’ll break down what to do after Act Three and how to unlock the true ending in Saros.

To get the true ending in Saros, you first need to finish the game, defeat the King on the Yellow Shore, and then complete a chain of extra steps: find Kayla, meet with Kiira, study the hologram in Nitya’s lab, watch the final memory at the Banyan Tree, and defeat the final boss one more time.

The game will let you know that it’s not time to uninstall yet and that there are still secrets left to uncover. This is where your path to the true ending begins.

First, you’ll need to investigate the signal source at the Broken Mountain descent. Use the dial wheel to teleport straight to the start of the third biome.

You’ll see the building you need on the left. You’ve been here before, but for a different quest. Inside, look for a character named Kayla. When you approach, a cutscene will play, and Kayla will open the door for you. During the conversation, Kayla gives you your next lead: someone wants to meet you at the Red Tree.

Return to the hub and teleport to the start of the fourth biome — the Wasted Marshes. Explore the area until you find the gate with the so-called “nightmare threads.” Beyond them, you’ll find the Red Tree. Another cutscene will start, and you’ll need to talk to a character named Kiira. She’ll give you a quest to visit the Cathedral and find the entrance to Nitya’s lab.

Chances are, you’ve already been to the Cathedral and received the quest to visit Nitya’s lab. You’ll explore this location before fighting the boss called the Priestess. Go back to the Cathedral and check out the side areas. After this, a bell will fall and smash a hole right in the center of the hall — that’s where you need to jump down. You should see a red hologram. Examine it, then return to the hub and talk to Kayla. If she’s not there, visit Kayla at the last place you saw her.

After talking with Kayla, you’ll get a new destination — the Banyan Tree. This location is similar to the house in Returnal, serving as a place where you unlock memory fragments. By now, you’ve probably visited it twice. Now you need to watch the third and final memory. Here, you’ll discover more about what’s really going on.

After all these steps, there’s just one thing left — defeat the King one more time. After your victory, don’t interact with the boss’s remains. Instead, walk around them and head through the passage behind the arena. This will trigger the final cutscene and unlock the extended ending.
