Gothic 1 Remake: Who to Sell Baal Isidro's Swampweed To

In Gothic 1 Remake, the quest The Weed Merchant is tied to several other side quests and requires you to sell a large shipment of swampweed. At first glance, everything seems simple: Isidro gives you the goods, and you have to find buyers. However, there is one important catch: only one character is ready to buy the entire shipment at once, and that character is Cipher. In this guide, we explain how to complete The Weed Merchant quest and which quest chain it is connected to.

The quest is connected to the New Camp quest chain. First, you need to take the quest A Piece of the Pie from Lares, the leader of the New Camp. He will ask you to get swampweed from Baal Isidro in Silas' tavern, sell the goods, and bring him 400 ore in profit. To reach Isidro, first talk to Baal Kagan in the New Camp and take his quests Canvassing of Customers and The Weed Merchant. Kagan handles swampweed distribution and is unhappy that Isidro is sitting in the tavern by the lake, drinking and not helping with sales.

Kagan will ask you to hand out a trial batch of swampweed to the locals. To complete Canvassing of Customers, talk to unnamed rogues and mercenaries in the New Camp and offer them a sample of the goods. After handing out the samples, return to Kagan and finish the quest. Choose your reward: magic scrolls, 100 ore, or help with joining the Brotherhood.

After that, Kagan will tell you that he plans to replace Isidro if he does not start doing his job properly. You will need this information to pressure Isidro and convince him to trust you with the goods.

Baal Isidro is in Silas' tavern in the New Camp. The tavern is located by the lake. Approach him and start a conversation. At first, he will not be very interested in handing his goods over to a stranger. To move the dialogue forward, tell him that Kagan plans to find a replacement for him. If the conversation still does not progress, try buying Isidro a drink, such as rice schnapps, beer, or wine. After that, he will become more cooperative.

Once Isidro realizes that his position is under threat, offer to help him sell the swampweed. He will agree and give you a shipment of goods. This will start The Weed Merchant quest.

Do not try to sell the swampweed one piece at a time to mercenaries and residents of the New Camp: the entire shipment should be sold to Cipher at once. If you have already sold part of the goods to other NPCs, he will not buy the batch from you. In that case, you will have to buy back the missing swampweed.

Cipher is in the same Silas' tavern, so you do not have to go far. Find him inside the tavern and start a conversation. In the dialogue, ask what he has for sale, after which you will get the option to discuss selling the swampweed. Cipher is interested in a large batch, so he will buy all of Isidro's goods at once and pay 400 ore.

After the deal with Cipher, you will have 400 ore. From here, you have two options, depending on your goal.

If you want to complete both Isidro's task and Lares' task, plan ahead. After honestly settling with Isidro, you will only have half of the earnings left, so you will need to get the missing ore for Lares from other sources.
