Gothic 1 Remake By the Hand of a Master Guide: Where to Find Ironwood

By the Hand of a Master is a side quest in Gothic 1 Remake that you can get at the very beginning of the game in the New Camp. Near the tavern by the lake, the hero will meet an archer named Henno, who offers to make him a free bow. In this guide, we explain how to find Wolf and learn the basic bow skill, where to look for Henno, and how to get Ironwood for the best version of the weapon.

The quest is given by Henno in the New Camp. You can find the archer on the shore near the tavern by the lake, but first you need to learn the Bows skill from Wolf.

We have written a separate guide on how to find all teachers in Gothic 1 Remake. Wolf can be found in the New Camp cave. There are two ways to reach the master archer:

Ask the master to teach the hero basic archer skills. The lesson costs 50 ore nuggets and 10 learning points. After that, you can return to Henno and receive the task to find wood for the bow.

There are several types of wood in the game, and Henno does not tell you exactly which kinds are suitable for the bow. Logs can be found in chests in the open world, for example in caves or bandit camps. You can also buy wood from merchants:

Henno can craft only one bow. Depending on the material, the weapon's damage and Dexterity requirement will be different:

This means you can get an almost free bow that performs well early in the game. We recommend finishing Chapter 1 and buying Ironwood in Chapter 2, because equipment becomes more expensive as your character develops. Do not miss the chance to save money on a weapon purchase.

In addition to the bow, you will receive 100 experience points as a reward. Keep in mind that to use Henno's Bow made from Ironwood, the hero needs 27 Dexterity.
