The End of Oak Street Release Date, Trailer, Cast, and Plot

The End of Oak Street is a sci-fi thriller about a family living in a quiet suburb that is suddenly transported to a mysterious place inhabited by dinosaurs. The lead roles are played by Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.

The film was written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, known for the horror film It Follows and the mystery film Under the Silver Lake. One of the producers is J. J. Abrams, known for Star Trek and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Mitchell has cited The Twilight Zone, Poltergeist, Signs, and 1980s sci-fi films among his inspirations. The score was composed by Michael Giacchino, who worked on Lost, Ratatouille, Star Trek, and the Jurassic World trilogy.

The story is set in the early 1980s. Denise and Greg Platt live in a quiet suburb with their teenage children, Audrey and Brian. One morning, however, the family discovers that their house, the neighboring buildings, and all of Oak Street have somehow been moved to an unknown place.

Their familiar street is now surrounded by a prehistoric forest, and dinosaurs roam near the houses. Leaving the neighborhood or contacting the outside world is impossible, so the Platts and their neighbors have to find food, protect their homes, and figure out what happened on their own.

The situation is made even harder by family conflicts that existed long before the disaster. To survive and find a way home, Denise, Greg, and their children must put their disagreements aside and learn to work together. According to the director, the family drama will play just as important a role in the film as the encounters with prehistoric creatures.

The international rollout of The End of Oak Street begins on August 12, 2026, while the film opens in North America on August 14. The movie is also planned for IMAX screenings.
