A Steam ID is a unique account identifier created when a Steam account is registered. It does not change when you change your nickname or profile URL. Most often, it is needed when contacting support, using statistics websites, playing on game servers, or working with certain trading platforms. In this guide, we will go over the main ways to find your Steam ID through a browser, the Steam app, a profile link, and the console in Counter-Strike 2.

What Is a Steam ID and What Is It Used For?

SteamID64 is a permanent 17-digit identifier used to identify a Steam account. This sequence is created automatically when each account is registered and, unlike a nickname, cannot be changed by the user.

You may need your Steam ID in several cases:

  • Contacting support: support staff may ask for your Steam ID to help confirm the account owner's identity.
  • Finding a profile: a Steam ID helps you find the right account faster, especially if the user changes their nickname often.
  • Viewing statistics: some analytics websites use a Steam ID to find a profile and show match history.
  • Server administration: owners of private servers in games such as Counter-Strike 2 can use Steam IDs to ban players or grant administrator rights.
  • Skin trading: trading platforms may use a Steam ID to find a profile and check a public inventory, but a Steam ID by itself does not give access to item management.

There are several ways to find your numeric identifier. Below, we will explain each of them in detail.

How to Find Your Steam ID Through a Browser

Any browser you prefer will work for this method. To find your Steam ID, follow these steps:

  • Go to the official Steam website.
  • Sign in to your account.
  • Click the small triangle next to your nickname.
  • In the drop-down list, select Account Details.
  • You will find your Steam ID under the page heading.

You can also use third-party services to find a Steam ID from a profile link. Usually, you only need to paste your Steam profile URL, and the service will show your SteamID64 and other identifier formats. Use such websites carefully: do not enter your login, password, Steam Guard codes, or bank card details.

If you have a Steam profile link, first look at its address. If the URL contains a sequence of 17 digits instead of a custom name, that sequence is the account's Steam ID.

If the profile uses a custom URL, you can determine the numeric Steam ID through third-party converter services. Usually, you only need to paste the profile URL, and the service will show the SteamID64 and other identifier formats.

Do not enter your login, password, Steam Guard codes, or bank card details on such websites. A profile link is enough to determine a Steam ID.

How to Find Your Steam ID Through the Steam App on PC and Smartphone

This method is not very different from finding your Steam ID through a browser. You will need to install the Steam app on your PC or smartphone.

After installation, sign in to your account using your login and password. Then:

  • Click the icon with your avatar in the upper-right corner.
  • In the list that appears, select Account Details.
  • As in the browser, you will find your Steam ID under the page heading.

This method is convenient because it does not require third-party websites: you view your Steam ID directly in your Steam account.

How to Find Your Steam ID Through the Console in Counter-Strike 2

If you need your Steam ID during a match in CS2, you can view it through the developer console without leaving the game. To do this:

  • Open the game settings and enable the developer console.
  • Once you are in a match, press the key that opens the console. By default, this is usually "~" or "Ё", but the key can be changed in the settings.
  • After opening the console, enter the status command.
  • A list of players will appear: find your nickname, and your Steam ID will be shown next to it.

This method is less convenient than finding your Steam ID through a browser or the app, so it is best used mainly when you need the identifier during a match.

A Steam ID is useful when contacting support, finding a profile, setting up servers, viewing statistics, and working with some trading platforms. The easiest way to find it is through the Account Details page in a browser or the Steam app. If you only have a profile link, you can use a third-party Steam ID finder, but you should never enter your account login details there.
