Every companion in Palworld has random traits and skills. However, not everyone knows that the game has a special group of Legendary Pals, each of which is extremely valuable. They stand out thanks to their high stats and special passive boosts, which are especially useful in the late game.

After the release of Version 1.0, the situation changed: the player level cap increased to 80, new high-level regions and bosses were added, and some classic Pals changed their level and location. In this guide, we will explain where to find Legendary Pals in the current version of Palworld, how to prepare for catching them, and cover raid bosses and other powerful endgame companions.

Which Pals Are Legendary

The classic Legendary Pals are:

  • Paladius.
  • Necromus.
  • Frostallion.
  • Jetragon.
  • Frostallion Noct.

The main feature of these companions is the Legend passive skill. It increases attack and defense by 20% and movement speed by 15%. Thanks to this, Legendary Pals remain strong fighters even after more difficult endgame content appears.

Palworld Legendary Pals: All Locations and How to Get Them

Some Legendary creatures also have an additional passive skill that strengthens their main element. For example, Frostallion has Ice Emperor, while Frostallion Noct has Lord of the Underworld.

When breeding, parents' passive skills can be passed down to offspring. Because of that, Legendary Pals are worth catching not only for combat, but also for future breeding.

It is also worth keeping in mind that not every powerful boss is a Legendary Pal. Bellanoir, Blazamut Ryu, Xenolord, and Hartalis are raid enemies with their own acquisition mechanics, while Selyne and Xenogard are tied to Meteorite Events.

How to Prepare for Catching Legendary Pals

In Version 1.0, the character level cap has been raised to 80. At the same time, the levels of the classic Legendary Alpha Pals have also changed: Paladius, Necromus, and Frostallion are now encountered at level 60, while Jetragon is level 70.

Before going hunting, stock up on high-tier spheres. After the Legendary Sphere, the game offers the Ultimate Sphere and Exotic Sphere, while Version 1.0 added even stronger spheres, including the Sol Sphere and Ancient Sphere. Use the best spheres available against high-level Alpha Pals, otherwise the catch chance will be too low.

The Ring of Mercy is a useful accessory. While it is equipped, your attacks cannot reduce an enemy's health below 1 HP. This lets you weaken a Legendary Pal as much as possible before throwing a sphere without accidentally killing it.

Also prepare armor suited to the region's climate and companions that are effective against the boss's element. After the updates, the classic legendaries are no longer the highest-level enemies in Palworld, but they still require good preparation.

Where to Find Paladius and Necromus

Paladius and Necromus are a pair of Legendary knights found in the desert in the northeastern part of the map. In the current version, both are level 60 Alpha Bosses.

Their approximate coordinates are 440, 679. This is the Deep Sand Dunes area in the northern part of the desert.

Paladius is a Neutral-type Pal, while Necromus is Dark-type. Despite their titles and possible rivalry, these two knights are not enemies to each other. If you start an open fight with one of them, the second may also join in.

However, the pair can be separated. It is most convenient to come at night: Necromus falls asleep, allowing you to fight Paladius one-on-one first. After defeating or catching the first boss, you can deal with the second.

Strong Dark-type Pals are especially effective against Paladius. Necromus is weak to Dragon-type attacks. If you need a universal option for both fights, you can use Astegon.

Palworld Legendary Pals: All Locations and How to Get Them

The Paldeck hints at a close connection between these bosses. They look similar and have similar traits. Paladius is especially good as a ground mount thanks to its high speed and triple jump, while Necromus remains one of the fastest ground mounts and can perform a double jump.

Defeating or catching these bosses can reward you with valuable materials and loot. Both Pals can also be used in breeding to pass strong passive skills down to offspring.

Where to Find Frostallion

Frostallion is a Legendary Ice-type world boss. After the updates, its level has been raised to 60.

You can find Frostallion at approximately -357, 508 in the Astral Mountains, on a frozen lake east of the Garden Beneath the Astral Mountains fast travel point.

Before traveling there, make sure to prepare good protection against the cold. Fire-type Pals, such as Blazamut or Jormuntide Ignis, are especially effective in this fight.

Frostallion has the Legend and Ice Emperor passive skills. Both can be used in breeding to produce offspring with strong combat bonuses.

Frostallion also has a high Cooling work suitability level, which makes it useful at the base for refrigerators and other equipment that requires low temperatures. In addition, it is a fast flying mount and a powerful combat Pal.

Where to Find Frostallion Noct

Frostallion Noct is the Dark-type variant of the regular Frostallion. Previously, the main way to get it was by breeding Frostallion and Helzephyr, but now the world also contains a separate Legendary Alpha version of this Pal.

Frostallion Noct is found on Feybreak in the sealed area called the Sealed Realm of the Black Pegasus. This is a high-level battle, and access is locked until you obtain the required Bounty Tokens for defeating Alpha Bosses on the island.

The required targets for unlocking this chain include Celesdir and Silvegis. Because of that, before going after Frostallion Noct, you will first need to explore Feybreak and defeat other powerful opponents.

Frostallion Noct itself is Dark-type, so bringing strong Dragon-type Pals into the fight is recommended.

A captured Frostallion Noct has the Legend passive skill and Lord of the Underworld, which increases Dark-type damage.

You can still get Frostallion Noct through breeding by crossing Frostallion with Helzephyr.

Where to Find Jetragon

Jetragon is one of the most famous Legendary Pals in Palworld and one of the best flying mounts. However, its old volcano location is no longer relevant.

After the release of Version 1.0, Alpha Jetragon was moved to the new Sunreach region, and its level was raised to 70.

Look for the boss at approximately -553, -1332 on one of the floating islands of Sunreach. To travel through this area, you will need a way to reach the sky islands.

In addition to its high flying speed, Jetragon remains a powerful combat companion. It is Dragon-type and is especially effective against Dark-type enemies.

Palworld Legendary Pals: All Locations and How to Get Them

In the fight against Jetragon, it is best to use strong Ice-type Pals, such as Frostallion. The level 70 boss is much more dangerous than its old early access version, so bring good spheres and equipment appropriate for the level.

After catching Jetragon, you can use it as a fast flying mount and combat companion.

Which Strong Pals Are Not Legendary

Some powerful Pals may seem legendary because of their high stats and difficult fights, although formally they do not belong to the classic Legendary group.

Such creatures include Blazamut and Anubis. They do not have the innate Legend passive skill, but both remain useful in combat and for base work.

In the current version, Blazamut can be found in the volcano area at approximately -736, -333. This is a Fire-type Alpha Boss, and Water-type attacks are especially effective against it.

Anubis is located in the Twilight Dunes desert at approximately -134, -93, near the huge Anubis statue. It is a Ground-type Pal and is especially useful at the base thanks to its high Handiwork and Mining work suitability levels.

Because of that, calling Blazamut and Anubis "sub-legendaries" is not entirely correct. They are simply strong Alpha Pals that remain valuable in the late game.

Raid Bosses and How to Get Them

Raid Bosses form a separate category of some of the strongest Pals. They cannot be found at a regular open-world point and caught with a sphere directly during the battle.

To summon one, you need a Summoning Altar and the corresponding boss slab.

The mechanic works as follows:

  • Build a Summoning Altar at your base or use an available arena for raid battles.
  • Obtain Slab Fragments from dungeons, chests, expeditions, and other suitable activities.
  • Combine four identical fragments at a workbench to get a complete slab.
  • Use the slab at the Summoning Altar.
  • Defeat the boss and collect the egg, from which the corresponding Pal will later hatch.

The main raid Pals include Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero, Blazamut Ryu, Xenolord, and Hartalis.

How to Get Bellanoir and Bellanoir Libero

Bellanoir and Bellanoir Libero are Dark-type raid Pals.

To start the fight, you need to collect the corresponding slab fragments and create Bellanoir's Slab or Bellanoir Libero's Slab. Fragments can be found in dungeon chests and other high-level activities.

Palworld Legendary Pals: All Locations and How to Get Them

You cannot catch the boss with a sphere. After winning, the player receives a Huge Dark Egg, from which Bellanoir or Bellanoir Libero will hatch.

How to Get Blazamut Ryu

Blazamut Ryu is another raid Pal. To summon it, you need a Blazamut Ryu Slab, created from four matching fragments.

Fragments can be obtained from high-level content, including expeditions and chests in late-game regions.

After defeating the Blazamut Ryu raid, the player receives a Huge Dragon Egg, from which this Pal hatches.

Like other Raid Bosses, Blazamut Ryu cannot be caught with a sphere directly during the battle.

How to Get Xenolord

Xenolord is a powerful Dark- and Dragon-type raid Pal.

To summon it, you need a Xenolord Slab. Slab fragments can be obtained in high-level Feybreak dungeons and through expeditions.

After defeating Xenolord, you will receive a Huge Dark Egg. Place it in an incubator to get Xenolord.

It is one of the strongest combat and riding Pals in the late game.

How to Get Hartalis

Hartalis is also a Raid Boss, not a regular open-world Alpha Pal.

It is summoned with a Hartalis Slab, which is created from four Hartalis Slab Fragments. Fragments can be obtained through expeditions and found among rewards from high-level content.

The standard version of Hartalis appears as a high-level Raid Boss. After defeating it, the player gets the chance to obtain their own Hartalis.

Hartalis is a strong combat mount, and its Partner Skill lets it use a protective barrier.

Rare Pals from Meteorite Events

Some rare Pals appear only during random Meteorite Events. Such events existed before Version 1.0 and remain a relevant way to get several unusual companions.

How to Get Selyne

Selyne can be encountered during a Meteorite Event on Sakurajima.

When the corresponding event happens on the island, head to the meteorite impact site. Selyne appears directly near the crater, but its appearance is not guaranteed in every event.

Palworld Legendary Pals: All Locations and How to Get Them

Selyne can be caught with a regular sphere, so keep a supply of powerful spheres with you before traveling to Sakurajima.

How to Get Xenogard

Xenogard is also tied to Meteorite Events. It appears as an Alpha Pal during a Meteorite Event in certain regions, including volcanic and desert areas.

This is a Dragon-type Pal with high stats that can be caught with a regular sphere after being weakened.

Because of that, if you want to get Xenogard, watch for Meteorite Event notifications and head to the event site as soon as it appears.

New Powerful Pals and Bosses in Version 1.0

Version 1.0 greatly expanded Palworld's late game. The player level cap increased to 80, the Sky Islands region, Sunreach, was added, and the World Tree became a full final area.

However, not every creature from the new content should be called legendary. Some are regular high-level Pals and Alpha Bosses, others are tied to quests, and some cannot be caught at all.

Where to Find Celesdir

Celesdir is a strong Neutral-type Pal that can be found on Feybreak.

The Alpha version is located at approximately -965, -1172 near the Crystallized Ancient Tree. In addition to normal combat use, defeating Celesdir is important for obtaining its Bounty Token and progressing through certain high-level Feybreak boss chains.

Palworld Legendary Pals: All Locations and How to Get Them

Celesdir can also be used as a riding Pal.

How to Get Panthalus

Panthalus is a huge Legendary Water-type Pal and one of the key opponents on the way to the World Tree.

To unlock the fight, talk to the Ancient Civilization Researcher on the Deserted Islet. He will send you to look for four special bones:

  • Surf Echobone.
  • Silence Echobone.
  • Seafoam Echobone.
  • Breeze Echobone.

After obtaining all four items, you can craft the Echoing Flute and unlock the battle with Panthalus.

The fight takes place mostly above water and has a time limit, so it is recommended to use a strong flying Pal and good ranged weapons.

After the victory, Panthalus can be caught. Obtaining it is required to progress further toward the World Tree.

Can You Catch Astralym

Astralym is the final boss of the World Tree storyline in Version 1.0.

Unlike most powerful Pals in this guide, Astralym cannot be obtained as a companion. During the final battle, it fights alongside a trainer, so the standard catching mechanic is unavailable.

After being defeated, Astralym does not leave an egg that could be hatched. At the moment, it remains a story-only boss.

How to Pass the Legend Skill to Another Pal

The Legend passive skill increases attack and defense by 20% and movement speed by 15%.

It can be passed down to offspring through the breeding system. To do this:

  • Catch a Pal with the Legend passive skill, such as Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus, or Frostallion Noct.
  • Place it in the Breeding Farm together with a suitable partner.
  • Collect eggs and check the offspring's passive skills.
  • If Legend was inherited, use the new Pal in the next stage of the breeding chain until you get the species and skill combination you need.

Legend can be combined with other strong combat passives. For example, with Musclehead, which increases attack by 30%, or with other effects suited to a specific build.

There is no single universal combination for every Pal. After numerous updates, the pool of useful passive skills has expanded noticeably, so it is better to choose the final build based on the specific companion's role.
