Genshin Impact Material Trading Guide: How It Works

In Version 7.0 of Genshin Impact, the developers added the ability to exchange resources. The new Prime Ice Construct system adds different types of structures that can be transferred between players' worlds. One of these structures lets you place your own resources inside and send them to another player's world to help beginners or experienced players. In this guide, we will explain how material trading works and what you need to use it.

To unlock this mechanic, you need to progress through Snezhnaya's main story. The ability to build constructs becomes available after your first meeting with the Eye of Graeae during the opening chapters of the Archon Quest, where the Traveler loses sight of Paimon and ends up inside a snow-covered train car. Interact with the strange mechanism and meet the personality inside it. After that, it will give you a short tutorial on creating Prime Ice Constructs, and by the end of the quest, all available ice structures will be unlocked. Among them, you need to find the Storage Device.

Building any construct requires two resources: Prime Ice and Eye of Graeae energy. This energy is stored inside the Eye itself and is spent on three things at once: protection from the bitter cold, summoning your personal train, and building constructs. You can restore it at small Kresnik torches or by breaking orange crystals scattered across Snezhnaya. Without a supply of both resources, you will not be able to build anything.

Among the nine available structure types, material trading is handled by the Storage Device, a kind of icy chest. It is the most expensive of the standard constructs: creating it costs 40 Prime Ice and 40% energy, but it lets you interact with items left by other players.

Each such construct serves as an exchange point between different players on the same server as you. Each box has 30 storage slots. All items from the Food and Materials sections are available for trading. This means Travelers can even share regional specialties needed for character ascension and leveling. Each material is stacked in groups of two, up to 60 items in one chest. Prime Ice is exchanged in stacks of 10, while wood is exchanged in stacks of 15.

If you do not want to share materials with random players so they do not take rare resources or flood your screen with useless structures, visibility can be configured separately from the structure itself. In the Eye of Graeae's Prime Ice Construct archive menu, there is a settings button at the top of the screen that opens permission controls. There, two options can be enabled or disabled independently: Share Prime Ice Constructs allows your structures to appear in other players' worlds, while Show Other Players' Structures allows other players' structures to appear in your world.

To trade resources, you only need to gain access to the Eye of Graeae and create a Storage Device in the open world.
