In Mortal Shell 2 you can collect a wide range of useful items, including 73 Tarnishes. To earn the "Bedazzled" achievement, you'll need to find every single one. Tarnishes function as equipment: they grant passive bonuses, alter weapon effects, or unlock new attacks. Some of these mysterious artifacts only work with a specific weapon or shell. This can seriously change your playstyle and open up new possibilities, so it's worth having every kind of these enigmatic stones in your arsenal. In this guide, we'll cover where the Tarnishes are hidden and what effects they provide.
How Tarnishes Work
Tarnishes are a special type of equipment with their own dedicated slots in your inventory. You can combine them however you like, though not every stone is compatible with every weapon. Some of the traits Tarnishes unlock reinforce one another, letting you fine-tune your build even further for a specific purpose. The good news is you're free to swap your equipped artifacts at any time, completely free of charge.
Tarnishes have three tiers that strengthen their base effect. At the final stage of development, the buffs can be quite significant, so it's worth studying every ability a Tarnish offers, even if only the first tier is currently available. You don't need to upgrade the artifacts to earn the achievement — simply collecting the full set is enough. Importantly, any Tarnishes you missed can still be picked up even after finishing the main game. Once you've completed it, you'll have free access to all locations, so you'll just need to know where to go.
Tarnishes are loosely divided into four broad groups: Support, Combat, Infusions, and Abilities. It's easy to guess that each group is geared toward building your character around a certain goal, though nothing stops you from mixing stones from different groups.
You won't always need to fight for a Tarnish. Sometimes it's enough to solve a simple spatial puzzle or just make your way to some out-of-the-way spot.
Support
1. Auspicious Stone
From the Widow's Overlook beacon, head southeast; from the Mushroom Village beacon, head west toward the center of the village. Light the three candles on the stone pillars to open the chest.
The first candle is on the platform behind the chest. The second is along the path to the right of the first candle. The third is on the left path from the chest, behind the house near two enemies.
The Auspicious Stone increases critical hit chance by 10%, 15%, and 18%.
2. Devout Stone
Look for the stone north of the Sester's Gate beacon. Climb the stairs to where a pair of archers are standing. There's a lever on the wall nearby that opens the gate ahead — the chest with the stone is behind it.
The Devout Stone increases Resolve gained from melee attacks by 50%, 80%, and 100%.
3. Shattering Stone
From the entrance to the Obsidianite Mines dungeon, take the north elevator up, then head west along the path — there's an entrance to the Collapsed Mine dungeon. Follow the cave to a fork. On the left, in a dead end, is a chest with this Tarnish.
The Shattering Stone increases blunt damage percentage by 1%, 2%, and 3%.
4. Berserker's Stone
Important: right now this stone can be missed permanently due to a bug. If you don't grab it before taking the Heart of Vatra and leaving the area, access will be closed off — even on NG+.
East of the One Legged Wolf beacon, head east through the Bone Gate to reach the Temple of Vatra area. Climb the stairs — on the left is an area with a sacrificial chest. Light two candles on the left and one on the right of the statue to open the chest and grab the stone.
The Berserker's Stone increases damage as your health drops: 130% when health is below 35%, 140% when below 40%, and 165% when below 50%.
5. Marksman's Stone
North of the Mushroom Village Gate beacon, or east of the Mushroom Village beacon, follow the upper path northeast. The Tarnish is in a chest near three enemies.
The Marksman's Stone improves ranged critical hit chance by 10%, 12%, and 15%.
6. Deadeye Stone
In the Sanguine Caverns area, from the entrance, follow the path and drop down into the first camp on the left. The Tarnish is in the chest.
The Deadeye Stone increases ranged critical damage by 20%, 30%, and 40% respectively.
7. Siegebreaker's Stone
In the Glutted Mire area, in its first section, there's a sacrificial chest. Light the three candles around it to open it. The first candle is at the top of the stairs, on the railing of the house across from the chest. The second is on the stone pillar in the center of the area. The third is in a cage with an enemy, behind the stone pillars.
The Siegebreaker's Stone increases ranged damage from blunt effects by 50%, 100%, and 150%.
8. Spite Stone
North of the Abandoned Outpost beacon, ring the bell to open the bridge path to the Bellkeeper's Corner dungeon. Head deeper into the dungeon and open the chest on the small platform by the bell.
The Spite Stone increases ranged damage based on your current health: 140% when health is below 35%, 150% when below 40%, and 160% when below 50%.
9. Bulwark Stone
From the Citadel of Penance beacon, head to the southwestern part of the wall — there's a gate opened by a lever. Follow the path to the end past 4 enemies — the Tarnish is in a chest at the end of the collapsed bridge.
The Bulwark Stone reduces incoming damage for all shells by 10%, 15%, and 25%.
10. Retribution Stone
North of the Widow's Overlook beacon, activate and complete the Trial to obtain the stone.

12. Justiciar's Stone

The Justiciar's Stone grants more coins from slain enemies: 15%, 25%, and 40%.

13. Wounding Stone
Southeast of Widow's Overlook Beacon, in the area where you obtain Tiel, inside a chest around the corner of the first house.
The Wounding Stone improves your ability to break an enemy's guard. Since Mortal Shell 2 has no Stamina system for enemies, successful parries are one of the main ways to open them up. This Tarstone helps you reach the Break state faster. The Wounding Stone provides 2, 4, and 7 Perforation.
14. Grudge Stone
Directly south of Citadel of Penance Beacon, inside a chest.
The Grudge Stone guarantees a Critical Hit every 10, 7, and 5 attacks.
15. Duality Stone
From Nocthean Gate Beacon, take the elevator southeast down to the lower level, where you'll find the entrance to the Ravaged Tomb dungeon.
Follow the path through the dungeon. The Tarstone is inside a chest beneath the giant hanging body.
The Duality Stone allows light attacks with the Axe & Dagger or Axatana to strike twice. As you upgrade it, the effect applies to the first attack, the first two attacks, and eventually every attack in the light combo.
16. Unyielding Stone
North of the Deserted Mine Dungeon, in the middle of the stone circle. Activate the Trial and complete it to obtain the Tarstone.
The Unyielding Stone gives light attacks Stagger immunity. As you upgrade it, the effect applies to the first attack, the first two attacks, and eventually every attack in the light combo.
17. Parasitic Stone
Southeast of Widow's Overlook Beacon, enter the building to find the entrance to the Martyr's Tomb dungeon.
Head into the back room and loot the chest to obtain the Tarstone.
The Parasitic Stone grants Leech at 2, 4, and 6 stacks.
18. Thief's Stone
Northeast of Gate of Infinity Beacon, on the circular platform opposite the statue where Ruk was standing with the Map Fragment, activate and complete the Trial.
Landing hits restores 1, 2, and 3 Warp.
19. Stillblade's Stone
In the Faded Citadel area, inside Citadel Annex Beacon, progress through the location until you ride the spider-like creature across the gap. Immediately afterward, defeat the enemy to gain access to the chest containing the Tarstone.
Stillblade's Stone gives your heavy weapon a new fast Light Combo Finisher that deals 10, 15, and 25 Break Damage.
20. Zealot's Stone
East of High Lords Courtyard Beacon, drop down two levels to the lowest area, where enemies are gathered near a jump pad. The entrance to the Besieged Ruins dungeon is in the nearby wall.
Progress deeper into the dungeon and interact with the helmet pierced by an arrow. You'll be transported into a flashback where you play as a knight. Fight your way through the area to the end to obtain the Tarstone.
The Zealot's Stone unlocks a new combo for heavy weapons, increasing that combo's damage by 40%, 70%, and 150%.
21. Clerik's Stone

The Tyrant's Stone grants a new Heavy Combo Finisher for heavy weapons that applies 4, 5, and 6 Enfeeble.
23. Enfeebling Stone
East of Outskirts of Mammon Beacon, activate and complete the Trial to obtain the Tarstone.
Sidearm attacks apply 5, 6, and 7 Enfeeble.
24. Shuddering Stone
Southwest of Gloomshade Grove Beacon, follow the cliffside path until you reach the Bone Gate leading to The Desolate Peak. The entrance to the Illusionist's Cache dungeon is inside the building.
Progress through the dungeon using the arches to change which objects are visible, and strike false walls marked with white symbols. Once you place the block on the pressure plate, a wall will open. The chest containing the Tarstone is behind it.
Sidearm projectiles create a small, medium, or large knockback shockwave on impact.
25. Pulse Stone
In the Conquered Temple area, after Winterglass Lake Beacon. Follow the path through the area until you reach a cave and then a group of Grisha Hunters. To the left of the hunters is a large cluster of stone hands, with a chest containing the Tarstone hidden behind them.
Sidearm projectiles create a small, medium, or large shockwave that pulls enemies toward each other.
26. Ironpiercer's Stone
In the Prisoner's Domain area, inside Slumwater Drain Beacon, progress through the location until you use the Bone Gate to reach the upper level of a large room. The chest containing the Tarstone is immediately behind this platform.
Sidearm projectiles pierce through 3, 4, and 5 enemies before stopping.
27. Myriad Stone
Northeast of Blackridge Pass, in the graveyard area near the edge of the map. Destroy three glowing tombstones to open the door to the building containing the entrance to the Feeding Grounds dungeon.
The first tombstone is in the center of the graveyard. The second is to the left of the stairs leading to the building with the dungeon entrance. The third is on the northern edge of the graveyard, along the upper path. The Tarstone is inside a chest on the main floor of the dungeon. If you try to run across the middle floor, you'll fall into a lower area filled with enemies and will have to defeat them to return to the main floor.
The Myriad Stone allows your Sidearm to fire additional projectiles without consuming extra Resolve. It fires 3, 5, and 7 projectiles, with each dealing 75%, 50%, and 35% of the original damage respectively.
28. Splitting Stone
From the Sentry's Grave Dungeon entrance, circle clockwise around the castle. You'll find the Tarstone inside a chest on a balcony to the north.
The Splitting Stone causes your Sidearm to fire 2, 3, and 4 additional projectiles, dealing 70%, 60%, and 50% of the original damage respectively.
29. Rupturing Stone
In the Prisoner's Domain area, on the platform with the summon just before the main area boss. Circle around to the other side of the platform to find the chest containing the Tarstone.
In addition to Critical Damage, Sidearm projectiles also deal 8, 15, and 20 Rupture Damage.
