Deadlock City Never Sleeps Map: New Locations and Objectives

Deadlock City Never Sleeps Map: New Locations and Objectives

The City Never Sleeps update changes a lot more than the look of Deadlock's map. The spaces between the main lanes are now filled with new areas to explore, neutral Haunts to fight, hidden rewards, and a few risky locations that can give your team a big advantage.

Four new Districts have been added across the map: Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot, and Plaza. Each one has its own theme and unique neutral encounters. There are also new and reworked map objects such as Tough Crates, Buff Containers, Healing Snacks, and Steam Vents that you can use while rotating around the city.

Some locations are much more dangerous than others. The Sunken Plaza can give you valuable resources but constantly drains your Stamina, while the Bell Tower contains a large Soul reward but rings loudly across the entire map when someone starts collecting it. This guide covers the new Districts, Haunts, special locations, rewards, and the best ways to use the updated map during a match.

What's New on the Deadlock Map?

The biggest change is that the previously open spaces between the lanes now have much more going on. Instead of simply passing through them on the way to another lane, you can farm neutral enemies, pick up permanent buffs, recover health, or take on optional high-value objectives.

The four new Districts are:

Theater District: Stage Hands

Chinatown District: Crabbage Pots and Festival Spirits

Haunted Lot District: Shrooms

Plaza District: Underhands

Each area is worth learning because you will naturally pass through these parts of the map while rotating between lanes.

Theater District

The Theater District is built around a large theatrical area and has its own neutral enemies called Stage Hands.

It is not a massive objective area like Sunken Plaza or Bell Tower, but the Stage Hands give you another source of Souls while you are moving around the map.

Stage Hands are unique to the Theater District and fit the theme of the area.

If you are already rotating through the Theater, clearing the nearby Haunts can be an easy way to add some extra Souls to your farm. You do not need to make a special trip every time they are available, but they are worth checking when you are passing through.

This is one of the main changes to the new map. Your rotations can now include farming opportunities instead of being purely about getting from one lane to another.

Chinatown District

Chinatown is one of the more interesting areas on the new map because it has two different types of Haunts and also contains the Bell Tower.

You can find Crabbage Pots and Festival Spirits around the District, giving you plenty of neutral targets to clear while moving through the area.

Crabbage Pots and Festival Spirits

These Haunts provide another way to collect Souls outside the normal lanes.

The important thing about Chinatown, though, is that you should always keep the Bell Tower in mind when you're nearby. It can be a great source of Souls, but it also gives the enemy team a very obvious reason to come looking for you.

Haunted Lot District

The Haunted Lot has a much darker feel and is home to Shrooms.

Like the other Districts, it gives you another farming route between the lanes. If you are already moving through this part of the map, the Shrooms can be worth clearing instead of simply running past them.

Shrooms

Haunted Lot District

The Shrooms are the unique Haunts of the Haunted Lot.

They fit the strange atmosphere of the area and give players another neutral camp to farm. The District does not have a major high-risk objective like Chinatown or Plaza, so its main value comes from the Haunts and the extra farming opportunities they create.

Plaza District

The Plaza District is home to Underhands, but there is a much bigger reason to visit this part of the map.

Underneath the main Plaza is the Sunken Plaza, one of the riskiest new locations added in the update.

Underhands

Underhands are the unique neutral Haunts found around the Plaza District.

They are useful for picking up extra Souls during rotations, but you should also be aware of what is happening around the entrance to Sunken Plaza.

If the enemy team has control of the surrounding area, diving deeper into the Plaza can quickly turn a farming trip into a bad fight.

Sunken Plaza

The Sunken Plaza is one of the most unusual areas in the City Never Sleeps update.

It sits underneath the main square in the Plaza District. As you move deeper into it, the outside audio fades away and your Stamina continuously drains.

That makes the area much more dangerous than a normal neutral camp. You have to think about your Stamina and your escape route before going in.

Why Sunken Plaza Is Risky

The biggest problem is the constant Stamina drain.

If you enter without thinking about how you are going to get back out, you can find yourself with very limited movement options when an enemy suddenly appears.

The reduced outside audio also makes the area feel separated from the rest of the match. You cannot rely on normal sound cues in the same way you would in an open part of the map.

What Can You Get From Sunken Plaza?

Items From Sunken Plaza
Items From Sunken Plaza

The risk is there for a reason. Sunken Plaza contains Haunts, Sinner's Sacrifice sites, and other resources, making it a valuable location when your team needs to build its economy.

The important part is knowing when it is safe to take the reward.

If the enemy team is already nearby or has control of the surrounding streets, it may be better to leave the area alone rather than giving them an easy fight.

Bell Tower

The Bell Tower is found in Chinatown and works very differently from Sunken Plaza.

It is a vertical platforming area with a concentrated amount of Souls at the top. Getting there is only part of the challenge, though.

Once you start collecting the Souls, a loud bell rings across the entire map, telling everyone that someone is at the tower.

Why the Bell Tower Is Dangerous

The bell removes one of the biggest advantages you normally have when farming, which is staying hidden.

The enemy team immediately knows something is happening at the tower and can decide whether to rotate over and contest it.

Because of this, the Bell Tower is much safer when your teammates are close enough to help. If you are completely alone and the enemy has control of Chinatown, taking the reward can put you in a difficult position.

When Should You Use the Bell Tower?

Use the Bell Tower
Use the Bell Tower

The best time to go for the Bell Tower is when you have some control over the surrounding area.

If your teammates are already nearby, the bell can actually work in your favor. You know the enemy is likely to come, so your team can prepare for the fight instead of being surprised by a rotation.

It can also force the enemy to make a choice. They know where you are, but they still have to decide whether contesting the tower is worth the time and risk.

Tough Crates

While exploring the new map, you will also come across Tough Crates.

These are reinforced crates that cannot be opened with a normal attack. You need to use a Heavy Melee to break them.

The extra effort is worthwhile because Tough Crates give you more Souls than standard containers.

When to Break Tough Crates

If you spot one while safely rotating through an area, it is usually worth taking a moment to break it.

Just do not let the extra Souls make you lose track of your position. If enemies are nearby, stopping in the open to break a crate can give them an easy opportunity to catch you.

The best approach is to treat Tough Crates as bonus income rather than something worth risking your life for.

Buff Containers

The old golden statues have also been updated into Buff Containers.

These provide permanent, stackable bonuses, and the new system adds several useful stats to the pool, including:

  • Spirit Resist
  • Bullet Resist
  • Ability Range
  • Move Speed

These are permanent improvements, so they can become more valuable as the match goes on.

Collect Buffs During Normal Rotations

You do not necessarily need to change your entire route just to collect one Buff Container.

Instead, learn where they are and pick them up whenever they are close to your normal path. Over the course of a match, these small permanent bonuses can add up.

They are especially useful because you do not have to spend Souls to get the benefit.

Healing Snacks

The city also has Healing Snacks hidden around alleyways and other small areas.

They restore health and can be useful when you have taken some damage but do not want to immediately return to base.

Use Healing Snacks Between Fights

Healing Snacks Between Fights

If you are rotating after a fight and are missing some health, keep an eye on the nearby corners and side paths.

Finding a Healing Snack can give you enough recovery to continue farming or join another fight without making a full trip back.

They are not a replacement for proper healing, but they can save time when you are already moving through the area.

Steam Vents

Steam Vents are another useful addition to the map.

When you stand inside one, you become invisible and receive a small amount of health regeneration.

That makes them useful for more than just recovering health. You can also use them to disappear from an enemy's vision or wait for an opportunity to move.

Use Steam Vents for Ambushes and Escapes

If an enemy is chasing you, reaching a Steam Vent can give you a chance to disappear and change your position.

You can also use one before making a surprise play. Instead of walking directly into an enemy's vision, you can wait inside the vent and look for a better opening.

These vents are easy to overlook, but learning where they are can make some of the new streets much easier to navigate.

The Broker

The Broker Merchant
The Broker Merchant

The new map also has a temporary merchant known as The Broker.

Unlike normal shops, The Broker can appear at different locations around the city, so you cannot rely on one permanent spot to find him.

His first shipment arrives around the 30-minute mark, and additional Corrupted Items become available roughly every 15 minutes afterward.

Corrupted Items

The Broker lets you trade eligible high-tier items for powerful Corrupted versions.

These items come with significantly stronger stats, but they also receive a negative modifier. The drawback comes from a predefined pool and is determined for the match.

That means the Broker is another reason to pay attention to what is happening around the map during the late game.

The Broker Is Temporary

The Broker is not intended to remain in Deadlock permanently.

According to the update information, he will leave once the first of the six new heroes planned for the update is officially released. That makes the Broker a limited-time feature that players can only use during this event period.

How to Explore the New Map Efficiently

Explore the New Map Efficiently
Explore the New Map Efficiently

The new map has plenty of things to collect, but you should not try to visit every location during every rotation.

The better approach is to combine map exploration with what you are already trying to accomplish.

Farm While Rotating

The Districts make it easier to add extra Souls to your route.

If you are moving through the Theater, Haunted Lot, Chinatown, or Plaza, check whether the nearby Haunts are available. Clearing them while you rotate is much more efficient than making a separate trip just to farm.

Collect Permanent Buffs

Buff Containers are worth keeping track of because their effects stay with you.

Whenever one is close to your route, take the time to collect it. You do not need to completely abandon an objective for one, but collecting several throughout a match can give you a noticeable advantage.

Pick Your High-Risk Moments

Sunken Plaza and Bell Tower should be treated differently from normal map resources.

For Sunken Plaza, think about your Stamina and whether you have a safe way out.

For Bell Tower, think about where the enemy team is because the bell tells them exactly where you are.

If your team has control of the area, these objectives become much easier to take. If you are isolated, waiting for a better opportunity can save you from losing more than you gain.

Tips for the City Never Sleeps Map

Tips for the City Never Sleeps Map
Tips for the City Never Sleeps Map
  • Learn the locations of all four Districts so you know what each area offers.
  • Remember the unique Haunts in each District and use them as extra farming opportunities.
  • Break Tough Crates with Heavy Melee attacks when you have a safe moment.
  • Pick up Buff Containers whenever they fit naturally into your route.
  • Look for Healing Snacks when you are damaged and still need to keep moving.
  • Use Steam Vents for invisibility, regeneration, ambushes, and escapes.
  • Do not enter Sunken Plaza without thinking about your Stamina and exit route.
  • Be prepared for a fight when collecting Souls from the Bell Tower, since its bell alerts the entire map.
  • Keep an eye out for The Broker once the match reaches the late game.
  • Do not take every high-value objective just because it is available. Consider enemy positioning first.
  • Use the new Districts to combine farming and rotations instead of treating them as simple shortcuts.
  • Learn the map gradually. Once you know where the useful resources and escape options are, your rotations become much more efficient.

The City Never Sleeps map rewards players who pay attention to what is happening around them. You can pick up extra Souls from Haunts and Tough Crates, build permanent bonuses through Buff Containers, recover with Healing Snacks, or use Steam Vents to make risky rotations safer.

The bigger rewards require more thought. Sunken Plaza can give your team valuable resources but limits your movement, while Bell Tower gives you a large Soul reward at the cost of announcing your position. Once you know which areas are worth taking and when to leave them alone, the new map becomes much easier to use to your advantage.
