In Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD, you have to choose two heroes from a roster of twelve before every battle. Unlike towers, heroes can move around the map, fight enemies in melee, support defenses across multiple lanes, and block enemies on their own. That means damage is only part of the equation. Mobility, survivability, and each hero's abilities matter just as much. In this guide, we'll go through every hero, rank them in a tier list, and highlight strong pairings for different situations.

Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD Hero Tier List

There is no single hero who performs equally well in every situation. A character's effectiveness depends on the map, enemy composition, chosen upgrades, and the hero fighting alongside them. Treat this tier list as a general guideline rather than a mandatory lineup for every level.

C Tier: Heroes With a Narrow Specialization

  • Gerald.
Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Hero Tier List and Best Pairs

Gerald, Savior of Time

Gerald is a melee hero who helps hold the frontline and support allied soldiers. His biggest strength is survivability. He can block enemies, withstand punishment, and buy time for your towers. This is especially useful on lanes where enemies can quickly break through toward the exit.

Inspire Courage strengthens nearby allied soldiers by improving their defensive stats. Shield of Retribution helps Gerald defend himself while reflecting part of the damage he takes back at the attacker. Fated Survivor lets him survive a fatal blow and knock back the enemy he is fighting.

His ultimate, Divine Blade, deals true damage to the main target and also hits nearby enemies.

For talents, you can choose Battle Vigor to help Gerald recover Health while fighting, or Hardened Steel to improve his defensive capabilities.

Gerald's main weakness is his relatively low mobility. He is excellent at holding one lane, but he cannot always respond quickly to a threat on the opposite side of the map.

Best pairings: Zefira, Bolin, Ashbite.

B Tier: Strong Situational Heroes

  • Bolin.
  • Rhodes.
Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Hero Tier List and Best Pairs

Bolin, the Demolitionist

Bolin combines ranged attacks with the ability to fight at close range. He can slow enemies, prepare dangerous parts of the path in advance, and deal extra damage to groups. He is especially useful on maps where you can set up the defense ahead of time and keep enemies under tower fire for longer.

Smoke Mortar fires several bombs that deal explosive damage and leave behind smoke that slows ground enemies. Mine Field lets Bolin place mines along the enemy route. Giant Slayer improves his attacks against high-Health targets.

The Sharpened Rounds talent makes Bolin more effective against armored enemies, while Explosive Rounds adds explosive damage to his attacks.

His ultimate, Suppressive Fire, lets Bolin quickly fire a barrage of shots at nearby targets.

Bolin works best alongside a hero who can hold enemies in place on the road. However, he should not be treated as a full replacement for a dedicated frontline hero. Enemies that reach him in melee can interfere with his ranged damage.

Best pairings: Gerald, Malik, Rhodes.

Rhodes, the Earth Bastion

Rhodes is a defensive hero with a large Health pool and strong survivability. His main job is to hold a key section of the road while towers and the second hero destroy enemies. He is particularly useful on maps with narrow chokepoints where enemies have little room to bypass the frontline.

Strong Crust helps Rhodes recover Health and increases his defenses. Twisting Top deals damage to enemies in his path and slows them. Sunbeam hits a selected target with true damage and stuns it.

The Impervious talent improves Rhodes's defensive capabilities, while Unstoppable helps him resist crowd-control effects.

Rhodes can reliably lock down a single lane, but he is not especially mobile. On maps with several widely separated routes, he needs a partner who can move quickly between them.

Best pairings: Bolin, Zefira, Drakkan.

A Tier: Excellent Heroes

  • Zefira.
  • Connor.
  • Gemina.
  • Illiana.
  • Ignus.
  • Oni.

Zefira, the Battlemage

Zefira combines melee combat with ranged magic attacks. She can deal area damage, stun enemies, and quickly move wherever the defense needs help. That makes her a strong choice for maps with several attack lanes.

Dazzling Hammer deals magic damage in an area and stuns enemies. Shielding Blades helps Zefira protect herself while damaging nearby enemies. Astral Blink lets her cover long distances quickly and grants a temporary combat advantage after teleporting.

The Weakening Aura talent reduces the resistances of nearby enemies. Alternatively, Spell Proficiency increases her chance to deal critical damage.

Her ultimate, Ethereal Spears, deals magic damage to enemies along a section of the path.

Zefira is highly versatile. She can support the frontline, attack groups of enemies, and quickly respond to breakthroughs. Her mobility is most valuable when you actively move her between lanes instead of leaving her in one spot for the entire battle.

Best pairings: Gerald, Malik, Bolin.

Connor, the Templar Champion

Connor specializes in melee combat and powerful attack chains. He can quickly weaken tightly packed groups and deal significant damage to dangerous targets. He performs best when enemies can be held within a small section of the road.

Arterial Slash deals physical damage to enemies around Connor and applies additional true damage. Earthshatter creates fissures along the road that damage enemies in their path. Retribution allows Connor to block the next melee attack and counterattack.

The Battleborn talent increases skill damage when Connor's Health is low. Holy Grail gives him a way to return to battle after dying.

His ultimate, Templar Rage, stuns surrounding enemies and temporarily empowers Connor.

Connor is strong against groups of ground enemies and dangerous targets when his abilities are available. Between those power spikes, he is less effective than heroes who can hold a lane consistently.

Best pairings: Zefira, Bolin, Rhodes.

Gemina, the Arcane Illusionist

Gemina uses magical illusions to attack enemies and create extra blocking units at the same time. This allows her to help hold a lane without taking up the role of a second slow tank.

Forward Illusion summons a copy that attacks and blocks an enemy. Guarding Decoy lets Gemina dodge a melee attack while leaving an illusion behind. Mirror Slashes makes Gemina and her active illusions attack the enemies they are currently blocking.

The Solid Light talent increases the durability of her illusions. Last Effort causes illusions to deal area damage when they disappear.

Her ultimate, I Am Legion, sends a wave of illusions down the road, dealing magic damage and creating additional copies.

Gemina is useful whenever towers and other heroes need more time to eliminate enemies. However, her illusions only last for a limited period, so they are best treated as temporary defensive support rather than a complete replacement for barracks.

Best hero pairings: Bolin, Drakkan. Royal Catapult is a strong tower choice alongside her.

Illiana, the Dragon Tamer

Illiana fights alongside her dragon Sparky. She combines mobility, stuns, and true damage, making her especially effective with towers that can quickly focus down immobilized enemies.

Glitter Bomb stuns enemies in the blast area. Easy Prey sends Sparky after a stunned target to deal physical damage. Tag! makes the dragon spit a flame that bounces between enemies, deals true damage, and reduces their armor.

The Airborne Bliss talent improves Illiana's basic attacks while she is flying. Elvish Nimbleness gives her a chance to dodge melee attacks.

Her ultimate, Sparky, Incinerate!, sends Sparky flying over the road, dealing true damage to enemies and leaving burning patches behind that continue to damage them.

Illiana helps stall groups of regular enemies and gives your defenses time to focus fire on them. Against bosses, pair her with towers built for high single-target damage.

Best pairings: Rhodes, Malik, Zefira.

Ignus, the Blazing Talent

Ignus is a melee hero built around fire and true damage. His abilities let him attack groups, move quickly between targets, and sustain himself in battle.

Fireball deals true damage to the selected target. Heat Wave damages enemies in an area. Flame Rush lets Ignus move between enemies and deal true damage to each target in sequence.

The Melting Core talent deals periodic true damage to nearby ground enemies. Reverse Entropy helps Ignus recover Health whenever he uses abilities.

His ultimate, Supernova, creates a fiery vortex that damages nearby enemies.

Ignus is especially effective against groups of ground enemies when he can use his abilities regularly. His survivability depends heavily on his chosen talent and good ability timing.

Best pairings: Rhodes, Malik, Gerald.

Oni, the Vengeful Hunter

Oni specializes in melee combat and eliminating dangerous individual targets. He combines physical attacks with true damage, while his abilities help him close the distance quickly.

Death Strike deals true damage to the selected target. Netherfocus puts Oni into a defensive stance when his Health drops below 50%, allowing him to gradually recover part of his maximum Health. Hellish Blink teleports Oni to an enemy and lets him unleash a series of strikes.

The Duel Fervor talent helps Oni recover Health during prolonged fights. Lethal Combo empowers his next basic attack after using an ability.

His ultimate, Sword Torment, deals true damage to enemies in an area.

Oni is particularly useful against durable ground targets and heavily armored enemies. Against large groups of weaker enemies, he needs support from towers with strong area damage.

Best pairings: Zefira, Drakkan, Ashbite.

S Tier: Heroes With the Broadest Toolkits

  • Malik.
  • Drakkan.
  • Ashbite.
Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Hero Tier List and Best Pairs

Malik, the Unbroken

Malik is a melee hero who combines a large Health pool, crowd control, and strong frontline tools. He can hold a dangerous chokepoint, stun groups of enemies, and instantly eliminate certain targets that would otherwise take a long time to bring down.

Unbreakable creates an additional layer of protection tied to the maximum Health of the enemy Malik is blocking. Earthquake lets him slam the ground, dealing physical damage and stunning enemies. Obliterate instantly removes a valid target, although it does not work on bosses, mini-bosses, and certain other enemies.

The Foehammer talent lets Malik's basic attacks damage enemies in a small area in front of him. Lone Wulf increases his damage when no allied soldiers are nearby.

His ultimate, Hammernado, makes Malik spin rapidly with his hammer, damaging and slowing nearby enemies.

Malik is useful whenever your defense needs a durable frontline and a way to quickly remove a dangerous individual enemy. He pairs especially well with mobile heroes who can handle other parts of the map.

Best pairings: Zefira, Bolin, Ashbite.

Drakkan, the Arcane Sentinel

Drakkan is a flying ranged hero who specializes in magic damage. His biggest strengths are area attacks, the ability to disable enemy abilities, and excellent mobility across large maps.

Nullifying Pulse releases a wave of energy that deals magic damage and silences enemies. Deconstruct lets Drakkan detonate himself, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies. Double Dragon creates a magical duplicate that helps fight enemies.

The Arcane Affinity talent reduces Drakkan's ability cooldowns. Magic Phasing helps him move more quickly between distant areas of the map.

His ultimate, Arcane Storm, rains magical meteors onto the battlefield, damaging enemies around the impact points.

Drakkan is especially valuable on large or split maps. He can reposition quickly, attack groups of enemies, and disable dangerous abilities. However, he is not a full replacement for a ground hero who can physically block enemies.

Best pairings: Malik, Rhodes, Oni.

Ashbite, the Red Dragon

Ashbite is a flying dragon who combines ranged attacks, a large Health pool, and a varied set of fire abilities. He deals true damage in an area, helps strip enemy armor, and can temporarily land to attack ground targets directly.

Blazing Breath unleashes a cone of fire that deals true damage to enemies in the area. Searing Sneeze burns enemies along a section of the road. Feeding Time makes Ashbite land beside a valid enemy and attack it with bites. If the enemy dies, the dragon restores part of his Health.

The Melting Fury talent causes damage from Blazing Breath and the burning effect left by Searing Sneeze to gradually reduce enemy armor. This effect does not work on bosses. Spitfire adds extra burn damage to Ashbite's basic attacks.

His ultimate, Wildfire Barrage, launches fireballs onto the road that deal true damage to enemies around each impact point.

Ashbite works well on many different maps thanks to flight, ranged attacks, and his high Health pool. He is especially effective alongside a ground hero. His partner can hold the frontline while Ashbite supports the defense and moves wherever the next threat appears.

Best pairings: Malik, Rhodes, Zefira.

Best Hero Combinations

Successful runs depend on choosing two heroes who cover different roles. If both heroes specialize entirely in melee combat, they may struggle to support distant parts of the map. If both attack only from range, your defense may need additional ways to block enemies.

Gerald + Zefira: A Balanced Pair

Gerald holds the frontline and helps allied soldiers survive incoming attacks, while Zefira deals magic damage and quickly moves between lanes.

This combination works well early in the campaign because it can support the frontline and still respond to dangerous breakthroughs elsewhere on the map.

Zefira + Bolin: Ranged Damage and Control

Bolin slows enemies with smoke and prepares the road with mines. Zefira uses teleportation to respond quickly to breakthroughs and attacks groups with magic damage.

This pair lacks a permanent dedicated blocker, so support them with barracks, Reinforcements, or towers that can stall enemies.

Malik + Zefira: Frontline and Mobility

Malik holds the most dangerous ground lane, while Zefira supports him with magic attacks and rotates to other parts of the map when necessary. This pairing works well on levels where it is difficult to predict which lane will need the most attention.

Rhodes + Drakkan: Defense and Air Support

Rhodes holds a critical chokepoint and relies on his defensive abilities to withstand enemy pressure. Drakkan deals magic damage from range, silences enemies, and helps handle threats on distant lanes.

This pair is particularly effective on maps with several attack routes where a ground hero cannot move between lanes quickly enough.

Malik + Ashbite: Strong Frontline and Fire Support

Malik anchors the ground defense, stuns enemies, and can remove certain targets with Obliterate when the conditions are met. Ashbite deals ranged damage, uses fire attacks, and helps reduce enemy armor.

This combination is well suited to levels with durable ground enemies and large groups. Malik holds dangerous targets in place while the dragon supports the defense with area damage.

Universal Hero Pair

If you do not want to swap heroes before every level, Malik and Ashbite are a strong general-purpose starting pair:

  • Malik is a ground hero who holds the frontline, stuns groups, and can eliminate certain dangerous enemies.
  • Ashbite is a flying hero with ranged attacks, fire damage, and the mobility to support defenses across different parts of the map.

This pair combines blocking, crowd control, area damage, and mobility. Still, there is no universal solution for every level. Some maps may benefit more from a hero with extra stuns, illusions, or support for allied soldiers.

How to Use the Tier List

The Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD tier list should not be treated as a strict ranking where an S-tier hero is always better than a B-tier one. A hero's performance depends on the map, tower placement, and the abilities of their partner.

We covered the best towers in Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD and their strongest combinations in a separate guide. Before starting a level, you should also consider:

  • How many attack lanes the map has.
  • How far apart the dangerous sections are.
  • Whether you need to block ground enemies constantly.
  • Whether the level includes flying enemies.
  • Whether you need additional area damage.
  • How important stuns, slows, and other crowd-control effects are.
  • Whether a highly mobile hero can be used effectively.
  • Which damage types are already covered by your chosen towers.

Do not forget about upgrades either. Talents can significantly change a hero's role, so the same character may perform better as a defender, damage dealer, or support unit depending on your choice.

Kingdom Rush 6 Genesis TD Hero Tier List and Best Pairs

***

In Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis TD, your hero choices should match the problems presented by each map. Gerald strengthens the frontline, Bolin slows enemies and prepares the road with mines, Zefira combines magic damage with mobility, while Malik and Rhodes are excellent at holding key chokepoints. Drakkan and Ashbite give you flying heroes who can attack from range and quickly reinforce different areas of the defense.

When choosing a pair, try to combine different roles: blocking, crowd control, area damage, and mobility. That way, the heroes complement each other instead of competing for the same position on the battlefield.
