First photos from the set of Moana with Dwayne Johnson
The live-action adaptations have grown: the first photos from the set of the film based on Moana have been shown online. The pictures show what the demigod Maui and Moana will look like, played by Dwayne Johnson and Catherine Laga'aia.
The images were shared by an insider from CosmicMMedia. The frames show that the creators of the film adaptation decided not to stray far from the canonical images, so the actors look very authentic. In one of the pictures, you can even see Maui's hook weapon:
The first look at Moana's canoe has also appeared:
By the way, Dwayne Johnson has already played his character in the cartoon, giving the hero his voice. As for the film with live actors, Moana will be released in theaters on July 10, 2026. The plot of the remake will completely repeat the original.
Disney recently released a new trailer for Moana 2, which will premiere on November 27.
