J.K. Rowling reacts to casting of new Harry, Ron, and Hermione for HBO's 'Harry Potter' series

J.K. Rowling, the author behind the Harry Potter books, has finally weighed in on yesterday’s big news: HBO has officially cast its new leads for the upcoming TV adaptation, and the creator says she’s fully on board with the choices.

Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton will take on the iconic roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, respectively. The broader cast also includes John Lithgow, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon, Paul Whitehouse, and Janet McTeer.

The first of the show’s planned seven seasons is expected to premiere in 2027. Earlier, Tom Felton — who played Draco Malfoy in the original films — shared advice for the new stars stepping into the magical spotlight.
