Apple has officially announced the start of production on Neuromancer, a series based on the iconic novel by William Gibson. To mark the occasion, the company released a brief teaser featuring the Chatsubo bar, where the story begins.

Originally published in 1984, Neuromancer is one of the foundational works of the cyberpunk genre. It won both the Nebula and Hugo Awards and introduced concepts like artificial intelligence, cyberspace, cyberdecks, and ICE—all of which heavily influenced The Matrix filmmakers and the creator of the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020.

The story follows Case, a washed-up hacker banned from accessing cyberspace, and Molly, a razor-sharp mercenary with retractable blades beneath her fingernails. Their lives take a turn when they’re hired by the mysterious Armitage for a job that involves hacking an artificial intelligence.

The series is being developed by Graham Roland (Jack Ryan) and J.D. Dillard (The Outsider). Callum Turner and Briana Middleton will lead the cast.

The show does not yet have a release date. Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes.
