'Alien: Earth' Series Features Unexpected Crossover with 'Ice Age'
Hulu has premiered Alien: Earth, a new series from Fargo creator Noah Hawley. The first episodes are now available, and fans have already spotted an unexpected crossover.
The main character, Wendy — portrayed by Sydney Chandler — is a human-synthetic hybrid and a big fan of the Ice Age franchise, which now officially exists within the Alien universe. For instance, she recalls watching Ice Age 3: Continental Drift with her brother Joe during childhood. The sloth Sid even appears in one scene of the second episode as an image preserved in Wendy’s mind after her transformation into a synthetic.

Fans have already started speculating that the Ice Age franchise might subtly foreshadow humanity’s fate in the face of global catastrophes. A more likely explanation is that it serves to highlight Wendy’s emotional bond with her brother through their shared interests.
Notably, both the Alien and Ice Age franchises are owned by 20th Century Studios.
The first two episodes of Alien: Earth are available now, with the finale set to air on September 24. The series received strong reviews from critics ahead of its premiere.
