According to Nexus Point News, production on the God of War series has finally moved forward. Filming is scheduled to start in 2026 in Vancouver, Canada, with Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) serving as showrunner.
In addition to him, the television adaptation for Amazon will involve:
- Matthew Graham (Electric Dreams and The Spanish Princess);
- Stephanie Shannon (For All Mankind and Outlander);
- Narendra K. Shankar (The Expanse and For All Mankind);
- Joe Menosky (For All Mankind and Star Trek: Discovery);
- Marc D. Bernardin (The Continental and Star Trek: Picard);
- Tania Lotia (The Witcher).
The series will adapt the story of Kratos and Atreus from the 2018 God of War reboot. According to the showrunner, Kratos himself will be the main character, with the narrative focusing on his journey with his son to lay his wife to rest. The creators also intend to show Kratos’ past and his relationship with Atreus.
As for casting, no actors have been announced yet, nor has a release date on Amazon Prime Video been confirmed.
Meanwhile, another God of War game is reportedly in development. According to rumors, it will be a spin-off of the main series, starring Deimos, Kratos’ brother. The gameplay will reportedly resemble Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, with a potential release in 2026.
