According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming has officially wrapped in the UK on the upcoming superhero blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. The project will now move into post-production, with reshoots planned if necessary.

Much like during Marvel’s “golden age” of comic book movies, the film is being helmed by the Russo brothers, who previously directed the massively successful Infinity War and Endgame, closing out the MCU’s third phase. Avengers: Doomsday is expected to restore Marvel films to their former glory — not only bringing back fan-favorite characters such as Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and others, but also reintroducing Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Doctor Doom. Doom’s costume was already unveiled at the Walt Disney Marketing Expo.

Previously, Channing Tatum — who plays Gambit — teased a “big fight” involving his character and Doctor Doom. It’s also been confirmed that Deadpool, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, will appear in the film, with reports of on-set clashes between Reynolds and Robert Downey Jr.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere on December 18, 2026. That same year will also see the release of the fourth Spider-Man film, which is currently shooting in the UK.
