First reviews of 'Tron: Ares': a visual masterpiece with an “empty” plot and excessive nostalgia

After the world premiere in Los Angeles, viewers and critics shared their first impressions of Tron: Ares, the third film in the franchise, released 15 years after Tron: Legacy.
The plot moves the action from the Grid to the real world, where Jared Leto plays the AI soldier Ares, and Greta Lee plays the new CEO of ENCOM, Eva Kim. The film also stars Jodie Turner-Smith and Evan Peters.
Although the visuals and Nine Inch Nails soundtrack were highly praised, critics' opinions were divided. Many noted the spectacular scenes on the Grid and the dynamic chases, but the hand-to-hand combat scenes and humor raised questions.
Tron: Ares is a collection of empty and clumsy decisions, where beautiful images serve a stagnant plot. Even the music doesn't save the film.
Tron: Ares is impressive. This franchise has always been one step ahead, and Ares is no exception. Greta Lee is the perfect “heir” to Kevin Flynn. If you've ever dreamed of getting into the Grid, you'll love this movie.
Some critics noted the acting and visual effects as the film's strengths. In particular, Greta Lee and Jodie Turner-Smith received praise, as did the quality of the 3D production. At the same time, the narrative decisions are perceived as a weak point: the plot is criticized for its “repetitive points” and “lack of emotional core.”
Tron: Legacy hits theaters on October 10. Viewers are advised to pay attention to the visuals and special effects, even though the film's story has not received unanimous support.
Yesterday, we shared the final trailer for the upcoming Predator: Badlands. In the plot, the Predator survives on the planet Kalisk with a female android.
