IGN has shared a behind-the-scenes featurette for Return to Silent Hill, directed by Christophe Gans. The video highlights not only the filmmaking process and the involvement of Silent Hill 2 composer Akira Yamaoka, but also features several new scenes from the movie.
While discussing the film’s sound design, the creators revealed short excerpts from the final cut — including James’s arrival in Silent Hill, the first encounter with the Lying Figure, and the moment he meets Maria, the “better” version of Mary, the protagonist’s late wife.
The story will be based on the canonical plot of Silent Hill 2, though the trailer and official stills suggest the team has introduced a few subtle changes. In the adaptation, James Sunderland is portrayed by Jeremy Irvine, while Hannah Emily Anderson plays Maria.
The world premiere of Return to Silent Hill is set for January 22, 2026.
