While fans wait for Tom Holland’s return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, attention has once again shifted to another Peter Parker — the one from Sam Raimi’s original trilogy. Ever since Tobey Maguire’s cameo in No Way Home, audiences have been hoping for a true continuation of his story.

Now that dream has an unexpected champion: Mattson Tomlin, the screenwriter behind The Batman and The Batman: Part II. Earlier this year, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

What I’d love most is to make Spider-Man 4 where Maguire’s Peter is now a husband and father. The theme of fatherhood speaks to me — especially after eight Spider-Man movies.
— Mattson Tomlin

When a fan recently asked for an update, Tomlin replied:

Slowly but steadily. There’s a lot of people and politics involved, so it’s not moving fast. But I haven’t been told “no” yet!
— Mattson Tomlin

For now, the project remains a dream — but the idea of seeing Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man return in a full-fledged sequel feels more possible than ever, especially amid rumors of his appearance in future Marvel films.

Earlier, on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Mark Ruffalo was spotted, confirming the Hulk’s involvement in the film.
