Quentin Tarantino said that the plot of the Hunger Games was stolen from a Japanese film
The plot of the Hunger Games franchise is copied from the Japanese movie Battle Royale, filmed in 2000. This was stated by director Quentin Tarantino on the podcast of writer Bret Easton Ellis, writes ComingSoon.
Tarantino ranked the Japanese film Battle Royale 11th on his own list of the 20th best films of the century, which is constantly being updated. At the same time, according to the director, the similarity of the Hunger Games with this picture is so obvious that someone should have sued, but for some reason did not.
I don't understand why a Japanese writer didn't sue [the author of the Hunger Games story] Suzanne Collins. They just stole this book.
Tarantino also shared that he first saw Battle Royale when he was in Japan filming Kill Bill. Director Kinji Fukasaku invited him to a private screening.
I had no idea what I was going to see. And I don't even know what I saw. It was so wild.
Recall that Tarantino recently returned to the news headlines with material that did not make it into the final version of Kill Bill. Movie 2 more than 20 years ago. The unusual premiere will be a collaboration between the director and Fortnite.
