Mortal Kombat 2 producer Todd Garner has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from the film’s set, giving fans a glimpse of Quan Chi, played by Damon Herriman.
Quan Chi is one of the main villains in the Mortal Kombat universe. He is known as a powerful sorcerer and necromancer, a master of dark magic and manipulation. Quan Chi is distinguished by his cold intellect, cruelty, and his ability to control the dead, summon spirits, and create illusions.
His main goal is to expand his own power and influence across different realms, often through manipulating other characters. Quan Chi has been responsible for many tragic events in Mortal Kombat’s history, including betrayals and the deaths of key heroes.
In the background of the image, you can also spot Kano, portrayed by Josh Lawson. The movie will feature several other iconic characters, including Shao Kahn, Sonya Blade, Jax, Noob Saibot, Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, Kitana, and more. Simon McQuoid returns as director.
Mortal Kombat 2 is slated for release on May 8, 2026, with a runtime of 116 minutes. Interestingly, New Line Cinema has already announced a third Mortal Kombat film, though details are still under wraps.
Earlier this year, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection—a compilation of classic franchise titles—launched on PC and consoles, receiving mixed reviews.
Back in September, we also reported on the announcement of a collectible Ermac figurine.
