Scarlett Johansson May Join The Batman Part II — Actress in Final Talks for a Mysterious Role

Scarlett Johansson — the MCU star known for Black Widow — may be entering the DC universe for the first time. According to confirmed

reporting from Deadline, the actress is in final negotiations to join the cast of The Batman Part II. Discussions between Johansson, DC, and director Matt Reeves are reportedly nearing completion. The identity of her character remains undisclosed.

Fans are already speculating — from Poison Ivy and Batgirl to Talia al Ghul or even Andrea Beaumont (a fan favorite from Mask of the Phantasm). But the details are far too scarce to link any rumors to a specific character.

The plot of the sequel is also being kept tightly under wraps. All that’s known is that the film will continue the story of Robert Pattinson’s Batman following his confrontation with the Riddler in the first installment and the events of the Penguin series.

Filming is set to begin in spring 2026, with the theatrical release scheduled for October 1, 2027. Johansson’s schedule is packed: THR previously reported she will first star in Mike Flanagan’s new horror film The Exorcist, and then move on to DC.

As for the cast, rumors suggest Zoë Kravitz may not return as Selina Kyle. In the first film, her character left Gotham following the encounter with the Riddler — and according to insider reports, she is not expected to appear in the sequel.

Meanwhile, Colin Farrell, who played the Penguin, has already shared his early impressions of the script — and he’s thrilled. Matt Reeves himself has teased new villains and confirmed that Robin will definitely not appear in the film.
