YouTube has blocked channels with more than a million subscribers who posted fake trailers of Hollywood films
YouTube has blocked two channels that used neural networks to create fake trailers for popular movies. In total, they had more than two million subscribers and about a billion views, Deadline reports.
We are talking about the channels Screen Culture and KH Studio. According to the publication, the owners of the resources live in India and Georgia, respectively. Previously, they flooded the platform with fake trailers, after which YouTube restricted monetization channels.
However, earnings quickly returned, because the authors began to add labels to the videos, such as "fan trailer", "parody" or "concept trailer".
When the attention from the YouTube administration weakened, the channel owners returned to the previous scheme, passing off their trailers as real ones. It didn't last very long — the channels were blocked.
The owner of Screen Culture told Deadline that his team consisted of more than 10 editors. They used official footage and posters to create fake trailers.
For example, in March, the Screen Culture team created 23 versions of the trailer for the movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, some of which were even higher in the YouTube search results than the official trailer. The situation was similar with the upcoming HBO series Harry Potter and the Netflix project Wednesday.
Earlier, Deadline conducted an investigation, which revealed that giants such as Warner Bros., Sony and Paramount themselves do not mind making money on AI creativity. They asked YouTube to provide them with advertising revenue generated from fake trailers.
