Ólafur Darri Ólafsson Cast as Thor in Amazon’s God of War Series

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, known for his roles in Severance and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, will play Thor in the upcoming God of War series from Amazon Prime Video, according to Deadline.
The story follows Kratos and his 10-year-old son Atreus as they embark on a journey to scatter the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Along the way, Kratos tries to teach his son how to be a “better god,” while Atreus helps his father become a “better man.”
In the series, Thor is portrayed as a battle-hardened veteran and former loyal warrior of Asgard, now living in the shadow of his past, struggling with alcoholism and growing distant from his family—though the power of the God of Thunder still burns within him.
The cast also includes:
- Ryan Hurst as Kratos (he previously played Thor in God of War: Ragnarök);
- Teresa Palmer as Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family;
- Max Parker as Heimdall, the guardian of Asgard and son of Odin.
The series is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in collaboration with PlayStation Productions. The first two episodes will be directed by Frederick Toye.
By the way, it was recently announced that Ólafur Darri Ólafsson will also play Drago in How to Train Your Dragon 2.
