‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’: A Super Bowl Teaser Reveals the Spin-Off — and Tarantino’s Best Character Is No Longer His
During the Super Bowl, the first teaser for The Adventures of Cliff Booth was unveiled — a spin-off of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood entirely focused on Brad Pitt’s character. Trailers premiering during the game have long become the norm, and this time the stage was used to promote one of Netflix’s most talked-about upcoming projects.
The film is set in 1977, several years after the events of the original movie. Cliff Booth is no longer just a stuntman and body double — he now works as a kind of Hollywood “fixer,” dealing with dirty, dangerous, and unpublicized problems behind the scenes of the film industry. This period forms the core of the story.
The film is directed by David Fincher, with the screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino. The teaser reveals very little about the plot, instead focusing on the character, the atmosphere of the late 1970s, and a darker, more grounded tone compared to the original. This is no longer a fairy tale about Hollywood, but a story about how it really works.
In addition to Pitt, the cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, and Scott Caan. The film is set for release in 2026 and will be distributed by Netflix, with a possible limited theatrical run.
Do we really need a standalone film about Cliff Booth, or is this a dead idea from the start? Share your thoughts on the original movie!
