Streaming services HBO Max and Paramount+ will be combined into a single platform after the takeover of the Warner Bros studio by Paramount. This was announced by David Ellison.
The HBO Max service is owned by Warner Bros. This is one of the largest sites with dozens of original projects. These include Chernobyl, The Last of Us, Westworld, the Game of Thrones universe, True Detective and other popular series.
The name of the new service has not yet been disclosed. However, David Ellison said that the HBO brand should remain almost unchanged because it is a leader in its field.
"We do plan for that to be able to operate with independence, so that HBO can, candidly, do what it does incredibly well. Our viewpoint is HBO should stay HBO. They built a phenomenal brand. They are a leader in the space, and we just want them to continue doing more of it".
Recall that all this is happening against the backdrop of a protracted struggle between Paramount and Netflix, which, apparently, has come to an end. At the end of February, Paramount updated its offer to purchase Warner Bros. Then the WBD board of directors recognized that this was the most profitable option.
A few days later, Warner Bros. finally agreed to a takeover by Paramount. The amount of the agreement was $110 billion. Now it remains to wait for the regulatory authorities to approve the deal.
How do you think these changes will affect the content produced by HBO Max? Or will nothing change for users?
