DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television have released the first teaser for Lanterns, an upcoming series that will serve as a key entry in the first chapter of the revamped DC Universe, titled Gods and Monsters.
The series follows new recruit John Stewart and the legendary Hal Jordan. These two intergalactic peacekeepers find themselves pulled into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Chris Mundy, known for his work on True Detective: Night Country, serves as showrunner and executive producer. He is co-writing the series alongside Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) and acclaimed comic book author Tom King (Supergirl). The lead roles are played by Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, and Ulrich Thomsen. The ensemble cast also includes Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Nicole Ari Parker, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones. The show is set to premiere this August on HBO Max.
