Project Hail Mary is an adaptation of the novel by Andy Weir, the author of The Martian. The film tells the story of a schoolteacher who suddenly wakes up alone aboard a spaceship several light-years away from Earth. Gradually, he remembers that he was sent into space to stop a global catastrophe threatening humanity.

The $240 million sci-fi blockbuster was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who previously made 21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Ryan Gosling plays the lead role, with Milana Vayntrub, Sandra Hüller, and Ken Leung also starring.
