Fear of Failure? Hulu Scraps Buffy the Vampire Slayer Revival
Streaming service Hulu has officially canceled the highly anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival. The project was set to see Sarah Michelle Gellar return to her iconic role while also serving as executive producer.
The news comes a year after the platform greenlit a pilot episode. The revival had a high-profile creative team, including Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao—a longtime fan of the original series—and writers Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.
Insiders reportedly described the pilot as "polarizing," suggesting that Zhao’s specific creative vision may have clashed with the franchise's established aesthetic. The scrapped project was set to star Ryan Kiera Armstrong as a new Slayer, with Gellar reprising her role as Buffy Summers.
In other TV news, we recently got our first look at the Jason Voorhees prequel series Crystal Lake. Additionally, a new poster has been released for Margo’s Got Money Troubles, starring Elle Fanning as an OnlyFans model.
